Description: In truth, there are quite a few track-ready cars out there for you to buy straight from a dealership, far too many to list here with boring you to tears. So when picking the cars for this series, we w...Add Comments0
Ben AugustSep 03, 2012 It's so badass. There's a guy in my neighborhood with the base model, it's green, looks good. Catches so many looks with it. Looks fun. I always thought that the Atom and X-Bow were for motorcyclists turned car enthusiast.
Ryan VeitchSep 03, 2012 I like my face not being morphed by wind, I'll take the Aston in the window
Description: The clearest first choice to cover was also the car with the best name, the Ariel Atom. As this most excellent of names implies, the Atom was designed to be the absolute most basic car that it was pos...Add Comments0
Description: Ariel will ship you your Atom in pieces, complete with the optional "road pack" (turn signals, a horn, etc.), and if you assemble these parts yourself, then the Atom will be street legal. Pr...Add Comments5
Emil KleijsenSep 04, 2012 @John it stands for Head And Neck Safety I think, anyway, if you watch F1 it's the collar thing they have strapped to there helmets, a bit hard to explain, but basically it prevents a whiplash when crashing, google it :)
Description: But those few oddballs who decide to drive their Atoms on the street aren't important. This is a car designed for the track, and it is utterly brilliant in this environment. The aforementioned su...Add Comments5
Dan RatherSep 04, 2012 Also at 800+ hp in a 914 I doubt he could get the power to the ground well enough without some crazy slicks. Also assuming its using a 4 cylinder with a turbo it's most likely going to have a lot of lag and not as smooth of a power band.
Dan RatherSep 04, 2012 Another important thing about a track car is reliability a lot of heavily modified cars cant take the hours of abuse and heat from a driving on the track. Als
Aaron CartwrightSep 03, 2012 Andrew I know a guy that spent 32 grand building a 872whp porsche 914. I'm pretty sure that is faster and corners just as well. I know you can't buy one from a dealer, but just goes to show you there are ways to go faster for less.
Andrew McNealSep 03, 2012 You won't find a faster car for 40k, anywhere, ever
Description: There have been three generations of the Atom so far, The Atom, Atom 2 and Atom 3. Changes have been made to the design, but it takes a very keen eye to spot them on a car which doesn't even have...Add Comments0

Michael MontefuscoSep 03, 2012 One is in the market for a car like this is not looking for an interior that looks "cool". Why spend the money on the R&D on an interior that looks cool to appeal to children?
John JenkinsSep 03, 2012 blah they could've made it look cool while remaining minimalist
John SerelySep 03, 2012 Does he drive his on the street?
Ben AugustSep 03, 2012 Apparently carbuzz deleted my previous comment, which only stated this is in fact identical to my neighbor's Atom.
Description: But even more impressive is the Atom 500, a 500-horsepower V8 version of the Atom which is absolutely insanely fast. The engine is a 3.0-liter unit which is essentially two Suzuki Hayabusa engines stu...Add Comments3
Miguel JimenezSep 04, 2012 @Jason displacement size doesn't equal weight and size FYI!
Jason BrowerSep 03, 2012 That would literally ruin this car. A huge 8.3 liter would be way to big and heavy to effectively be used. If anything, a turbo 2.0 or 3.0 is the way to go, it could make even more power, and also be just as light.
Matthew CrightonSep 03, 2012 Now stick a V10 hemi in this thing and you should have a very good 0-60 time.
Not that 2.5 seconds is slow
Description: Of course, that's not to say that there isn't a compromise, and it comes in the form of the price tag. This comes in at around $230,000, a noticeable increase over the base price. Some peopl...Add Comments3
Eric DareSep 03, 2012 In fact very few atoms are v8s. I heard in an interview with Ariel that besides a couple to send out to people like top gear, any v8 atom you buy has to be custom ordered
John SerelySep 03, 2012 Hmm...challenge stradale or Ariel? Definitely the Ariel for me

Domenic Sergi-HoltSep 03, 2012 This was a great review on Top Gear one of my favorites.
Emil KleijsenSep 03, 2012 Damn it Jackie, you don't have to write 74 comments every time you wanna say something, we get it
Redge DiakitéSep 03, 2012 I think there's a fly stuck between his teeth :D
Justin BrestSep 03, 2012 uhh why would you want stupid stuff like an adjustable seat, windshield and heat??? if I was in the market for expense car toys this wouldn't be on the top of the list. maybe as a 2nd or 3rd toy. but I don't foresee me running into this problem...
John SerelySep 03, 2012 To be honest, I'd probably take the 997GT3RS to the left, but it would be a hard choice
