Description: The Chrysler PT Cruiser will no doubt go down in history as one of the all-time great dorkmobiles. This is a shame, because its appallingly bad safety record is probably more deserving of fame. The bi...Add Comments6
Faviola GonzalezMar 27, 2013 Y'all suck this is a great car, yeah it doesn't look the best but it is very cozy inside, and its not like you are going to be looking at your car when you are driving, unless you drive by your reflection, but it is still better than a Nissan Cube (look wise)
Sebastian GreyJan 18, 2013 This is the worst gogomobile ever made.
Mike RenautJan 17, 2013 Never had a problem with these cars but the photos shown here prove that in most cases modifying them makes them look worse.
One exception was the Cruiser I saw that was turned into a pro street panel van with a chopped roof, V8 and candy red paint.
Benjamin Tyler BurkhardtJan 17, 2013 Also, they were not very economical. Most competitive mid size and even some full size body-on-frame SUVs did far better than the PT Cruiser on mileage per gallon.
Benjamin Tyler BurkhardtJan 17, 2013 I never heard anything about PT Losers being unsafe before this article. But they are very uncool. VERY. PT Losers.
Adam BeiersdorferJan 17, 2013 Seeing as this was my mothers next vehicle after moving on from a mid 90's Chrysler Minivan. I was all for it since it was the lessor of two evils... I'm a little sad they didn't have Details like deaths, internal memos like the other unsafe articles
Stephen Tyler LearnJan 17, 2013 @lou it's not that hard if you buy the turbo model which was nearly identical to the neon srt4. A few simple mods and you have a serious sleeper
Greg LewisJan 17, 2013 I liked the mini hearse! Chrysler went out on a ledge in designing, lead the industry away from the hideous cars that were being churned out in the 90's
Jesse JalapenoJan 17, 2013 Unsafe to look at?? How about hard to look at, these things are hideous
Lou GuerreroJan 17, 2013 Saw one of these turds run a low 13 at the drag strip hahaha
Tn NgJan 17, 2013 This car always reminds me of a hearse.
Eddie NashJan 17, 2013 Just when you thought it couldn't get any worse... Someone does this!
Ben BrightJan 17, 2013 Well that sure throws the scent off the gay trail...

Michelle HartJan 18, 2013 Jesse: Goggle Monocoque not all cars have a "frame" or chassey.
Jesse WilliamsJan 17, 2013 Platform. Either way, they have the same frame. Also, how could a car not have a frame. All cars are made with frames, some may not be full frames or durable frames but all cars have some sort of frame.
Jesse WilliamsJan 17, 2013 @David: A guy that works for Chrysler told me that they have the same frame. It may be that he was saying they have the same playf
David ParentiJan 17, 2013 The neon and pt cruiser do not have a frame per say... They are unibody cars and share the same platform.
Benjamin Tyler BurkhardtJan 17, 2013 The normally aspirated one is junk. The turbo is alright. But the PT Cruiser is not a very economical compact. I guess it isn't. Hahaha. It is a light truck. Go figure!
Jesse WilliamsJan 17, 2013 The PT Cruiser and Neon had the same frame as well.
Aaron CrispJan 17, 2013 My cousin got my grandmas old one, it is the GT model and as ugly as it is, it's pretty comfortable and fun to drive. Would never consider buying one haha
Ashton SummersJan 17, 2013 I thought these were unsafe because they were primarily driven by old people.
William DownsJan 17, 2013 Yes they did have a model that had the neon srt-4 motor.. sadly as ugly as these are i drove a manual version with the turbo 2.4 and thats one confortable ass seating position and that is a fun thing to throw around, but its just so ugly
Greg LewisJan 17, 2013 Decent for a 4 banger of its day...
David ParentiJan 17, 2013 Same engine in the SRT-4 neon I think
A.J. BradyJan 17, 2013 Chrystal offered up mopar parts for the pt that could take the horsepower up to about 300 or 320.
rowhan116Jan 19, 2013 um o_o, scuttle buttocks I was only commenting on the colors and yes I know carol Shelby would NEVER allow that. plus, this might be a shocker but I'm 12 years old and like cars except this car and a few others:)
Scuttle ButtocksJan 18, 2013 WHAT I CAN'T HEAR YOUR SENSIBLE EXPLANATION OVER THE RUSH OF BLOOD POUNDING THROUGH THE VEINS IN MY EARS
Justin ChavezJan 17, 2013 Uhh dude..chill he was just talking about the color scheme.
Benjamin Tyler BurkhardtJan 17, 2013 WTH? This really reminds you of anything Shelby? Yes, Shelby made Mopar cars. But they would never put a Shelby badge on something this ugly. Carol Shelby would never have allowed it.
rowhan116Jan 17, 2013 I sort of like the Colors. they remind me of the Shelby cobra colors.

William DownsJan 20, 2013 Maybe your sensor was taking a shit, cause I've never had a problem with them and everyone I know uses them and never had a single problem... did it do it after u cleaned and oiled the filter ?
Antonio FalsettiJan 19, 2013 K&n filter oil mess up your mass airflow sensor. It did to my car. $50 filter in the garbage and the sensor cost more then $200. Now I'm on a stock paper filter and a check engine light that keeps coming on even after cleaning the maf sensor.
Sebastian GreyJan 18, 2013 I will never ever get into one of these cars. If I were stranded somewhere and someone offered me a ride to safety on one I would say, "No. I'd rather die."
Sebastian GreyJan 18, 2013 What idiot wasted money on an intake for this rolling shit-wagon?
Tyler ChmieleskiJan 18, 2013 The worst I have ever seen this car is the one that has fake wood paneling
John DeCarlisJan 18, 2013 The zero to 60 times are about dead on for both the si and pt. It's just that the pt is a car that is made very poorly compared to the civic. Not to mention the safety factor.
Stephen Tyler LearnJan 17, 2013 @david the turbo pt will shit on a civic si all day long. I understand you don't like American anything but give credit where credit is due
David GuerreroJan 17, 2013 There is no Cold air intake in this picture. That is a short ram. K&N aren't too good, I prefer Injen, AEM, and aFe.
David GuerreroJan 17, 2013 @Greg I'd rather have a stock 1.8 civic than the 2.4 turbo PT Cruiser. And for $25k the civic Si is way better.
Preston MingJan 17, 2013 anyone remember the "PT Bruiser"?!? haha I remember reading that in a magazine some years back..they managed to squeeze a viper motor into one!
Aaron CrispJan 17, 2013 Only real aftermarket thing I have on my Focus is a K&N intake, also boosted gas mileage. Thing pays for itself. I'm not out racing but it helps the engine quite a bit.
Jordan HenryJan 17, 2013 I put an intake on my wife's 09 Sebring and was able to get some much needed better gas mileage. I can get about 4-5 mpg better over stock. (That includes e3 plugs I put on it too)
Greg LewisJan 17, 2013 Hey, make do with what you got. If you am only afford a cruiser, be glad it's not a civic...
David ParentiJan 17, 2013 That looks like a K&N typhoon 2
David ParentiJan 17, 2013 They also will give you a more responsive, snappier throttle. intake + cat back exhaust will give you a significant gain in HP. More air in, more air out. Cold air kits DO work. Only the name brand systems though. Don't kid yourself with eBay kits
David ParentiJan 17, 2013 If you think cold air intakes don't work then do some more homework. They let more cold air in compared to the stock, restrictive airbox. Cold air is compressed air in comparison to expanded hot air.
William DownsJan 17, 2013 How a car is a car, if u were a real gear head u would know that, u work with what u got
David LeeJan 17, 2013 Cold air intakes are maaaaaaaaaad... dumb on a PT Crusier.
Jason LevyJan 17, 2013 Don't be a dick man. I bet one if the first things you put in your car was an intake too
Max JabaayJan 17, 2013 Ooo a cold air that must b a gain of like 75hp. -_-

Benjamin Tyler BurkhardtJan 17, 2013 Chrysler wad trying to be like VW and offer us a new, ugly version of an old, better looking car. The problem was that the VW Beetle actually ran like a VW. The PT Loser was slow and old.
