yeah, the rims are over-done. other than that, it does look pretty good. Much sharper lines than the mk6. the roofline looks lower, overall, looks more agressive
I hope the signature rims will be left exclusively for the performance package.

Noah, you'd be less annoyed about FWD once you learn that the engine noise is pumped into the cabin via a speaker on the firewall, otherwise know as the "Soundaktor"

The GTI has always been and will always been FWD. The Golf is an economy car, so it will never see a RWD platform. Besides, the GTI handles extremely well as it is.
Rwd and make it unaffordable to more people. Good thinking. Just what the people's car needed.
@Daniel I've been in one. I was at a track and I was wondering why it wasn't rwd. It's a fun little car for sure but I think rwd should be an option.

Last gen's rims were the best and I was thinking that what ever rims that replaced them would not even compare, but I'm glad to see these are continuing in the same theme.
I really dislike the winglet thingies under the headlights. They look cheap and riced out. Last gen was so much nicer...

Yeah APR stage 1. It's crazy how a big a difference the ECU tune makes. It completely changes the car.
My mkv stage 2 gti is my DD and it handles the extra power just fine. Vw neutered the power to keep it in its market segment so it won't cannibalize golf R buyers.
I have a mk6 GTI with 290 lb-ft, no torque steer. The chassis handles the power extremely well.
Respect the performance, but they are just so godawful ugly that I hate them.
Putting out similar power numbers (slightly less) as a Stage 1 tune. Hmmm....
And not everyone wants rwd. I live in a part of Ohio where we usually get a ton of snow, and fwd actually does very well

correction: VW started audi, therefore any design is theres to toy with. unlike ford buying aston martin and incorporating their designs into their whole model line. (i think it looks great) thats the difference
The tartan seats really grow on you. At first a hated them but I've grown to love them.

There is 2 things from making this interior shot perfect....1, should be a manual, and 2, get rid of that electric parking brake!
I'll just miss the mechanical e-brake. Plaid seats keep it from being too conservative and boring. Think of it as a German attempting a sense of humor.

@Joe it's not modern at all but this is an old car. Sorta like Porsche when it comes to retro designs. Volkswagen are staying true to their roots

I'm gonna get totally flamed for this, but the only thing I don't like about this car has always been those damn plaid seats. Traditional yes, but has no place in any car built after the 1980's.
Pretty sure it's looking like the GTD will be sold in the States next year.
