Me and my dad are thinking of getting me a ford fiesta st for my first car but it will be used by the time I get It cause he is gonna drive it until I get a liscense
David Guerrero Mar 01, 2013
If they want a sports car, they can buy it after university.
David Guerrero Mar 01, 2013
A 2 door sports is not right for a 16 year old. They are irresponsible, the impreza, base civic, toyota corolla are good cars for a 16 year old. Not a civic Si, WRX, RSX-S. nothing performance oriented.
Noah Roberts Mar 01, 2013
Why is the frs not here?
Daniel Kenneth Babler Feb 28, 2013
Haha Zach my first car is a BMW 528e I payed $750 for it
Zach Gathercole Feb 28, 2013
Affordable for me would be around 500 bucks lol
Ashwin Kotwaliwale Feb 28, 2013
Those are awesome cars you know
Sam Reinsel Feb 28, 2013
FWD cars can be fun too... Though they are rarely good.
Chris Gaines Feb 28, 2013
add a 3rd criteria *3. RWD
Nick Sti Feb 28, 2013
RSX-S, 2.5rs, Civic Si, Impreza
Daniel Kenneth Babler Feb 28, 2013
Man I was hoping this was gonna be an article about actual first cars like "you just saved up enough money for your first car! Here's (random number) of used cars that are 1. Fun to drive 2. Affordable" that would be awesome
Henz Herrero Feb 28, 2013
Id really like to know why you think these cars are junk.. Lol
Ben Bright Feb 28, 2013
Same here, although i do like the Dart. I'd rather buy used quality than new junk.
Nick Schnee Feb 28, 2013
I'd go with a good ol' 944...

Fiesta st that's what I might get for my first car
Tyler Tarbox Mar 02, 2013
Last two comments were completely worthless and ignorant.
David Gomez Mar 01, 2013
VW is shit
Petro Maalouf Mar 01, 2013
You cannot get the VW polo in the us market ..... All theese cars are shit
Jake Dula Mar 01, 2013
Love my Fiesta, got it when I was 18 (19 now). I'm not saying its the best at anything (maybe it is, maybe it isn't), but I love it for one simple reason: it's a cheap everyday car that WILL put a smile on your face. Simple as that.
David Guerrero Mar 01, 2013
My first was a Toyota matrix. Ugh, the worst part is the automatic transmission.
Vince DeMasi Mar 01, 2013
My first was a 94 firebird for 2k it got totaled when a girl ran a stop sign I got double what it was worth and now own a trans am and love it
William Downs Mar 01, 2013
I got an 87 mazda mx-6 with a swapped in rotary
Sam Biggin Mar 01, 2013
The fiestas are bloody good cars! I had a vauxhall corsa van, what a babe she was!
Nathan J. Olson Mar 01, 2013
Mine was a 1984 Toyota pickup with a plow up front. Nice first car/truck.
Steve Liollio Mar 01, 2013
08 Toyota Tacoma when I turned 16... 4x4, sr5
Tyler Tarbox Feb 28, 2013
It's really all down to how much your parents trust you. My dad trusted me with 500 horsepower and was generous with the funds. I never got a ticket
Tim Preisinger Feb 28, 2013
One of my buddies is building his sons future first car right now... A 600+ HP (isn't too sure how crazy he is gonna go yet) 1956 Bel Air. I am very jealous.
Jdm Jerry Feb 28, 2013
I have never met any one who's first car was more then $8000... In fact where I live $15000 cars are expensive
Jack Howard Feb 28, 2013
I'm surprised no one has a truck besides Tyler. I've got 01 F150 as my first.
Jt Collier Feb 28, 2013
@erich. let me know when you find a 20,000 dollar 911 that isnt a beater.
Tyler Tarbox Feb 28, 2013
@David. Haha yeah I know what you mean. Same thing at my high school. The school I went to was in a very wealthy community so plenty of nice cars there.
Tyler Tarbox Feb 28, 2013
@Drew. What car?
Adam Gray Feb 28, 2013
I had a 92 Honda civic dx with like 60hp for my first car. F'ing loved it. Got like 45 mpg.
Paul Arnold Feb 28, 2013
I bought my first car for 2,000$...In my opinion I don't think teens should get a car over 8,000$.
Alex Semaan Feb 28, 2013
@tyler im jealous brah
Henz Herrero Feb 28, 2013
My first and last car was a msp, then ive since owned 4 suvs..
Henz Herrero Feb 28, 2013
You guys are jst talkig about fast cars.. Granted these cars arent fast but you get the techs and warranties that you might not get with used cars..
Shelby Cassandra Feb 28, 2013
@David. My little brother just turned 17 Feb 7th and he has been driving an 08 Bullit package Mustang with right around 540 RWHP. Granted, my first car was an 02 Tbird though, so he is lucky.
Blaise Harned Feb 28, 2013
Me to Erich, me to!
Luis Enrique Lara Feb 28, 2013
I own a 2007 corolla since i am 16, I am 18 now and still love that car, not fast at all, but good mpg and equipment. It is great for Mexico City streets
David Parenti Feb 28, 2013
Tyler, you're just that lucky 1 in 100 kid lol. Back when y GF was in Highschool, there was a kid that drove a Maserati every now and then. But pretty much every kid at her school had a brand new car.
Drew Humphrey Feb 28, 2013
I'm 17 and my car has 400 horsepower lolz
Tyler Tarbox Feb 28, 2013
I love my first car. Still have it. My 500 horsepower Lightning.
Bill Estep Jr Feb 28, 2013
Yeah I was fortunate to have a 88hp hatchback I miss that thing lol
David Parenti Feb 28, 2013
Because first cars are not meant to have loads of HP. Would you put 300+ HP in the hands of your 16 yr old son or daughter. Granted, as a kid you want more hp. But as a parent it'd be a bad call.
John-Michael Cunliffe Feb 28, 2013
Why pay that much for a first car when you could get a slightly older more powerful car for cheaper?
Michele Moro Mar 01, 2013
God is this the new fiesta? The previous model looked lightyears better than this
Jon Ashley Mar 01, 2013
not liking the new grille. The original fiesta actually looked nicer
Jake Dula Mar 01, 2013
Fantastic looking car IMHO, but I still prefer the last body style (the one I have lol, yes I am biased XD)
Noah Roberts Mar 01, 2013
@David not anymore
Sam Biggin Mar 01, 2013
@sam isn't the Aston designer at jaguar now?
Jacob Burford Feb 28, 2013
Love these! Good looking and fun to drive at an affordable price tag!
Ryan Todd Feb 28, 2013
i would honestly drive this
Wayne Joseph Borean Feb 28, 2013
Microsoft? That's the kiss of death. Blue screen here we come!
Sam Reinsel Feb 28, 2013
@Thai-Chau Ha the styling was done by the same guy that did modern Astons, and any Aston Martin you see today (minus the Cygnet) is as "Aston Ford", because the V12 is based on Ford V6 tech when Ford still owned Aston.
Manos Christopher Thomas Feb 28, 2013
Eeeeewwwwwwww
Shaniqua Latisha Feb 28, 2013
Ford has no bals?
Wmg Chinchilla Feb 28, 2013
They did everything right with this car except for the name.
Thai-Chau Ha Feb 28, 2013
Ford has no balls, just copy it 90% like the Chinese did. We won't complain. Call it a Ford-Aston
Christopher LikeaBoss Reber Feb 28, 2013
I would honestly take a Fiesta ST in a heartbeat. I'm sure it's a blast to drive and its very practical, not to mention fairly inexpensive.
Stephen Cobbs Feb 28, 2013
You cant deny that it looks good though.
David Parenti Feb 28, 2013
Yeah I mistake the fiesta for an Aston all the time! Hey look! It's an Ast...! Ah crap, got me again!
Bruce Tumblin Feb 28, 2013
No, just no!
Taylor Garry Feb 28, 2013
Not like it would be mistaken for an aston
David Parenti Feb 28, 2013
Not a rip off when Ford owns a piece of Aston Martin.
Scuttle Buttocks Feb 28, 2013
Yea it's definitely a ripoff
Curtis Dougan Feb 28, 2013
Hate their new grill, Aston Martin ripoff and it's very evident here
Brittany Sawyer Feb 28, 2013
It looks like a 4 door cygnet

I like the new look, definitely an improvement over the Aveo (tho that's not saying much), but recently talked with someone who had one for several years and said it was terrible. Said the ride, handling, power, equipment were all crap. He said he liked the way the interior looked tho lol
Sam Reinsel Feb 28, 2013
I mean, you'd be nuts to get a 21k sonic, but 16k for the base one ain't bad.
Tyler Tarbox Feb 28, 2013
I agree Ashton. Plenty other good options
Ashton Summers Feb 28, 2013
There are a lot of decent cars for $21k don't know why you would end with one these.
Jorge Gonzalez Mar 01, 2013
Ray sits on his finger.
Vince DeMasi Mar 01, 2013
I think this car looks better than the aveo, it's definitely a step up and really ray cause last I checked women have the same rights as men
William Downs Mar 01, 2013
Stfu ray u sexist pile of shit, she has more of a rite then u do with a comment like that
Ray Moreno Feb 28, 2013
Women...no place talking about cars.
Jacob Burford Feb 28, 2013
I kinda of like these, but id prefer the fiesta!
Lead Peddalin Feb 28, 2013
It doesn't look good, dude. As far as hatches go, it's horrible.
Jon Ashley Feb 28, 2013
I have a 1.4 turbo. My first car. Its slow, but its a whole lot of fun to drive, and as far as hatches go, it looks pretty good. Call me biased, but its a great first car.
Brittany Sawyer Feb 28, 2013
My bike has bigger wheels
Wmg Chinchilla Feb 28, 2013
I think it looks great considering the rest of GMs line up
Dylan Bruder Feb 28, 2013
These are better than they look I've driven a few worth a look
Christopher LikeaBoss Reber Feb 28, 2013
At least it's better than the spark...
Bruce Tumblin Feb 28, 2013
Oh hell no, lol
Ricky Austin Bride Feb 28, 2013
Shite
Bill Estep Jr Feb 28, 2013
Yeah but ur bike can't hold five people
Cory Deines Feb 28, 2013
I'd rather ride a bike than own this thing. Take it away!
Ashwin Kotwaliwale Feb 28, 2013
Those are awesome cars you know

I would take one of this
David Guerrero Mar 01, 2013
Great option for a 16 year old
Jake Dula Mar 01, 2013
Actually, Sam it isn't. Probly should do a little more research.
Reva Barris Mar 01, 2013
I love this car
Sam Biggin Mar 01, 2013
It's a ford focus underneath gettin a good car
Jacob Burford Feb 28, 2013
A very good all round car!
Jack Howard Feb 28, 2013
Who is way off?
Pablo Herasme Feb 28, 2013
Look at the Ferrari F12
Ethan Amo Feb 28, 2013
Gotta love Mazda
Wmg Chinchilla Feb 28, 2013
These are great. Better still are the pre-09 models. Although, I must admit the sky active engines can really save some dough at the pump. My brother has one and his average combined mpg is around 32.
Taylor Rosello Feb 28, 2013
I have 2 friends that have these, very good cars
Bruce Tumblin Feb 28, 2013
Not bad!
Garrett Middleton Feb 28, 2013
These are such fun cars to drive, even the base 2.0 engine has some good pep to it.
Frederick Perez Feb 28, 2013
Oh yes Mazda3!
Jorge Gonzalez Mar 01, 2013
my sister has a red one, id rock the speed 3 tho.
Ethan Amo Feb 28, 2013
I love the 3
Miranda Nearlydriftingondreams Pavelle Feb 28, 2013
My dad has one in that crazy celestial blue. It gets so many compliments.
Blake Antil Feb 28, 2013
I love this car. But mine is black.
Bill Estep Jr Feb 28, 2013

The acceleration in the turbo engine is very good
Jake Dula Mar 01, 2013
I've driven 2 of these, a base model with 2.0 4-banger and a "Rallye" with the 1.4 Turbo. Liked both a lot, the 1.4 turbo especially. Quick, comfortable, roomy, good to drive. The dash is horribly confusing and it had a MILLION buttons on the steering wheel, none of which I could figure out. In terms of "fun", I'd still take a Focus or Mazda3 in this class, but this is still a fun car.
Brian Themoparguy Mar 01, 2013
The dodge dart has been around for awhile.........not this 4 banger plastic One though....... I will Keep my 1969 Dodge Dart GTS With Big Block V-8 power thank you very much..... Fully built street legal race car w/600 hp for less money. Self built
Zach Gathercole Feb 28, 2013
Ive drove one if these theyre not bad but the chevy cruze is better pretty sure its more though
Sam Reinsel Feb 28, 2013
Ah, yeah I meant hp. It's pretty good for a car it's size.
Jack Howard Feb 28, 2013
Pretty much every 4 door "econobox" is as good as the next.
Clay Williams Feb 28, 2013
@Judah. I think he means HP, all current darts have 160HP
William Downs Feb 28, 2013
There are a bunch of cars that are 4cylinder and rwd
Judah Lindvall Feb 28, 2013
Um I hope your not saying this thing can go 160-180 mph lol km/h maybe?
Matt Sutton Feb 28, 2013
This would be my choice. If they come out with an srt awd, tuners everywhere will want to get their hands on it. Even the price of a fully loaded dart is pretty reasonable.
Sam Reinsel Feb 28, 2013
A lot of stuff is standard for 16k. It's a great car, albeit not super fast, but 160 or 180 is plenty for a car like this.
Aaron Crisp Feb 28, 2013
@Ben FWD with possibly an AWD option coming soon with an SRT version. I think these are the best 4 door compact ecoboxes you can get.
Ben Mossing Feb 28, 2013
Are they fwd or rwd? They look like a rwd but it has a 4cyl
Jean Ruto Feb 28, 2013
Brett, you sound as if this model has been around for a while.
Brett Vincent Feb 28, 2013
Choice, at least, aesthetically wise, but I've heard the actual vehicles have an assortment of issues. Stupid touchscreen and non-editable text...
Brett Vincent Feb 28, 2013
I've always liked the Dodge Dart as an entry-level vehicle of coich
Dylan Reece Mar 01, 2013
This is a sexy car I don't care what you say haha
Jacob Burford Feb 28, 2013
Not a fan of that small grille, but overall good value for money!
Benjamin Levin-O'Leary Feb 28, 2013
Scott i think youre from rural illinois. There are tons in chicago.
Corey Blomquist Feb 28, 2013
Scott- It's probably because all you've seen are pictures, actually see one in person, and you might just change our mind. I love how it looks!
Scott Helge Feb 28, 2013
This car is so boring to look at. I never see them on the road here in Illinois and they're built here.
Clay Williams Feb 28, 2013
In my opinion this is the best car you can get for under 16K right new.
Boyd Boudreaux Feb 28, 2013
Lot of car for the money
Milito Mayorga Mar 05, 2013
Pretty car
Sam Biggin Mar 01, 2013
Prefer the alfa
Jayson Lankster Feb 28, 2013
this car looks way better in pictures than in real life. I'd still take one though. my real only problem is that it's a lot taller than you would think and not as wide as it appears.
Jacob Burford Feb 28, 2013
Agree! Prefer this rear to the front!
Braxton Omgbased Booker Feb 28, 2013
Looks like a mini charger
Derek Soanes Feb 28, 2013
Love the back end

Jake Dula Mar 01, 2013
Article I read quoted Kia as admitting to lying about MPG, so one of us has the wrong info.
William Downs Mar 01, 2013
But agree its an ugly car, comfortable to drive but I would never own one
William Downs Mar 01, 2013
Jake get your info correct, they haven't been lying about there mpg, they gave the wrong info just like ford did, was a misunderstanding of the cafe rating system, they didn't fight the lawsuits they Payed and even offered to buy the cars back
Jake Dula Mar 01, 2013
If you've been keeping up with the brand lately, CB, you'd know that Kia has been lying about their MPG. Sorry, but that just ruins the brand's credibility for me. I didn't like before, and I'm sure not gonna buy one now. Not to mention it's absolutely HIDEOUS.
Dylan Gomes Feb 28, 2013
i thought they stopped making the Element :S unless they're talking about a used Element
Clay Williams Feb 28, 2013
the soul would NOT be on my list of 5 good first cars...
Michael Zimmermann Feb 28, 2013
The Kia Soul absolutely does NOT look better than an xb, Element, or Cube. From the front, the Soul looks like an angry rat, and should be smashed with a baseball bat
Johnathon Parilla May 05, 2013
This is one gay ass car
Alanna Galligan Apr 02, 2013
What's wrong with it
Bobbie Dalia Mar 08, 2013
It is uuugggllyy and lifeless
Jacob Burford Feb 28, 2013
On my most hated list!
Benjamin Levin-O'Leary Feb 28, 2013
Love this car. Especially compared to the xb and cube
Lead Peddalin Feb 28, 2013
Did you listen to techno when you drove your shitty car around?
Scott Helge Feb 28, 2013
Why don't the hamsters get any love? I had a Soul for 2 years and its quite a practical vehicle. Lots of room for 4 and tons of tech features for under 18K.
Eric Michalak Feb 28, 2013
It keeps getting worse!
Dale Schroeder Feb 28, 2013
This is supposed to look better than the xB? I would dare to dispute that.
Harrison Phillips Feb 28, 2013
Kill it with fire!!
Bill Estep Jr Feb 28, 2013
I'd be afraid to take a wicked hard turn it would flip
Scuttle Buttocks Feb 28, 2013
Oh dear lord remove this thing
