Wesley SnipenheimerFeb 28, 2013 I'm just impressed that carbuzz is respected enough to get a response from Pagani.

Adam ThomsonFeb 28, 2013 It doesnt bother me if they cheated or not, I hope that the Koenigsegg will beat that record!
Quinn ConnerFeb 28, 2013 1.3 seconds at 0 mph is nothing. But think of it this way,
1.3 seconds at average track speed of 80mph is quite large!
1.3 seconds in a 60 lap race is huge! Especially on a track that take 1 and a half minutes to complete.
It would lap 2nd place
Cian Mac GearailtFeb 28, 2013 Track times are always extremely tight every spit second counts if you think about 1.3 seconds in le mans every lap its an immense amount of time
Robert YoungFeb 28, 2013 1.3 sec...? That's like what blinking 3 times un a row.? How can beating out the other car by 1.3 sec smashing the record?
Oscar GalvanFeb 28, 2013 I'll double dip and take sixths ;)
Laura AnneFeb 28, 2013 Just don't like the mirrors
Facundo Planas MartinelliFeb 28, 2013 This is by far, the greatest, most beaufiful, exceptionally executed, best supercar that humankind have seen. It is just a piece of art. Love it!! my favorite machine!

Samuel BonordenApr 30, 2013 You can't compare completely different tracks
Jake DulaMar 01, 2013 Omg, people, Pagani offers these tires as a factory, street-legal option... What's the problem?
Shathan AlkhaliliMar 01, 2013 2 seconds of a lap is alot of time and some1 like the stig wont lose them , u still cant take the lap into account as these tires make a huge diffrence and all cars tested must be standard <3 Pagani
Robert Murray BylMar 01, 2013 Lol wow some peeps could make a trilogy out if this tire controversy lol
Ben KnorrMar 01, 2013 @ Noah - Your right. It's top gear, an entertainment show, not to be taken too seriously. I still love all of mr.pagani's creations, in spite of his admittedly brilliant trickery.
Ben KnorrFeb 28, 2013 @ryan - they already admitted to using grooved slicks. the loophole is they claim they will provide the same grooved slicks to customers as a factory option. it's all technically legal, just very cheaty and imo unnecessary.
Brian MicinskiFeb 28, 2013 Bah. Seriously still arguing? It's a factory option. They probably didn't mention it before the run because its a factory option! Just because they didn't say we're putting the best tires we offer on doesn't mean they cheated. Still street legal.
Noah RobertsFeb 28, 2013 We really didn't care in the first place
Ryan RainvilleFeb 28, 2013 You may be right I looked further into it I don't think pagani did that though and if they did wouldn't the tires end up having pretty much the same levels of grip as the factory tires of the same compound
William DownsFeb 28, 2013 Plus u can't compare your results with street tires on your jeep vs professionals with the correct tools and racing slicks
Kyle KloewerFeb 28, 2013 It blew me away. Ariel needs to rethink somethings
William DownsFeb 28, 2013 Ryan u also need to take into account that these are professionals and do these things for a living, just cause yours went to shit fast doesn't make it a fact, many racing teams takeracing slicks and cut groves into them to make them rain tires... If u use the correct tools it wworks perfectly find
Ryan RainvilleFeb 28, 2013 In them they would get torn up to bad to produce sufficient grip
Ryan RainvilleFeb 28, 2013 Out will rip it to pieces I cut the tread on my jeeps mud tires the areas I cut before the tires got stollen degraded all to shit and I never drove more then 15 miles on them at a time my point is if they took the slicks and cut a tread pattern
Ryan RainvilleFeb 28, 2013 Shaving a tire is completely different the problem with actually cutting into a tire is it makes it ware incredibly quickly because the edges on the cuts in the tire no longer have a smooth heat cured edge so running a tire like that on a track balls
Ellis YiFeb 28, 2013 I think that was a good answer from
the guy
Pablo HerasmeFeb 28, 2013 If its not an option then its cheating
Lou GuerreroFeb 28, 2013 I've seen a bunch of tires get shaved in pits. TireRack.com will shave your tires down to 4/32" before they ship to have sticky rubber ASAP.
Colby ChurchFeb 28, 2013 Tires are important, wouldn't you want the best? Pagani's tires are DOT approved and are street legal and offered with the car. Totally fair. Pagani is awesome. They build a car so well that people have to make lame excuses.
Colby ChurchFeb 28, 2013 @Ben You are seriously one of the most ignorant commenters in the history of this site. Many tires are made specially for cars. Veyron, Viper, and Corvette all have special tires. It's nothing new.
Aj WhiteFeb 28, 2013 @Ryan
You r wrong. It is possible to cut a tread pattern into a tire. Seen it done on a few cars and the first time I saw it was on a mustang, they cut a mustang head tread pattern into the tire. Not saying pagani did this just saying its possible.
Dillon DixonFeb 28, 2013 @ben Most people who buy the Huayra aren't worried about driving it in all kinds of weather. If you planned on going to the track often with it, then why wouldn't you order the best tires. If the customer can buy it, then it is not cheating.
Boyd BoudreauxFeb 28, 2013 So basically y'all all fighting over that all super, sport and hyper cars should run the same tire for each particular track crazy!! Then they should weigh, have the same power numbers and so on. These type arguments never get solved
Ryan RainvilleFeb 28, 2013 Go back to the article from yesterday and look at the tread pattern of the tires on the pagani sitting on the test gear track
Ryan RainvilleFeb 28, 2013 And it is still impossible to modify a slick tire into a treaded tire
Ryan RainvilleFeb 28, 2013 The tread pattern on the cars tires in the actual photo matches the p zero trofeo on there website
Ben KnorrFeb 28, 2013 so why doesn't the tread pattern match any of the tires on pirelli's website?
Ryan RainvilleFeb 28, 2013 Srt will be putting the Pirelli trofeo on the viper now so the r compound street legal tires are readily available and used as standard equipment by many manufacturers
Ryan RainvilleFeb 28, 2013 Temperature like with a slick regardless of compound pagani did not cheat they used the tire option available in the factory trim Porsche puts the same level tire from Michelin on the gt3 and rs models gm puts the Michelin on the z06 and zr1 also
Ryan RainvilleFeb 28, 2013 Process Michelin makes the same type of tires like some one said before the zr1 that uses the michelins stomped the srt viper on its Pirelli p zero corsas so Pirelli has developed a softer compound tire you do not need to bring a treaded tire up to
Ryan RainvilleFeb 28, 2013 The third tire option is not modified slicks they are made from the same compound as slicks but it is not possible to cut a tread pattern into a tire tires are extruded with the tread pattern pressed into the malleable hot rubber during the extrusion
Robert Murray BylFeb 28, 2013 Ok wouldn't they say that in the begging of this whole thing then lol
Shift KnobFeb 28, 2013 This makes me think of the Viper article from 2/24.... SRT went back to Pirelli to obtain a more aggressive tire option for the Viper after the Corvette performed so well on its stickier tires. Sounds like a mature response to a competitors advantage
Ben KnorrFeb 28, 2013 I just wish they would have had faith in their car and left the unmodified tires on. Would have avoided such controversy.
Ben KnorrFeb 28, 2013 who in their right mind would order grooved slicks?? You'd have to break all kinds of laws to get them up to operating temperature and they would dangerous on the street just running cold. technically, yes, it's street legal so the time will stay.
Ben KnorrFeb 28, 2013 if you guys want to swallow mr. Pagani's spoonful of shit with a grin, that's cool. I'm gonna pass. why didn't they come clean about the tires in the first place? how long have the modified slicks been an option?
Brian MicinskiFeb 28, 2013 This in fact isn't close to cheating. It is one of three factory options that is street legal. Legit lap. The rules are everything has to be street legal and it was.
Laura AnneFeb 28, 2013 Saved face is a respectable manner. Wicked.
Blake AntilFeb 28, 2013 Wow that's bold. Saying "We didn't cheat. And it could have gone faster." All I have to say it Do it up!!
Haoliang LiFeb 28, 2013 Still, if it rained that day slicks would be a bad move....
David GrayFeb 28, 2013 Ok when I read about this yesterday I was annoyed that they had put different tyres on for the hot lap. But if its an option that is offered to general customers then it doesn't matter, tyres were legal n the lap time is good
Oscar GalvanFeb 28, 2013 Of its an option that is offered to their customers, then in no way is it cheating. If no other company does this that is there problem. Complaining it used the best it offers is like complaining some cars used to much carbon fiber instead of aluminum
Jesse JalapenoFeb 28, 2013 Weather it had slicks or not(which it technically didn't) it's still a badass car, people are just jealous cause they don't like it
Ben KnorrFeb 28, 2013 It would be like throwing race gas in the car and saying " that's what it comes with from the factory".
Ben KnorrFeb 28, 2013 what a bunch of suckers you guys are. Taking race SLICKS and cutting grooves in them to make them street legal is as cheaty a move as ever been played. I love pagani as much as the next guy but let's call it what it is. Tires need to remain oem.
Boyd BoudreauxFeb 28, 2013 In the defense of all cars that make a track run wouldn't you want the best tire for that particular track they just made a better choice. That being said love the craftsmanship of this car
Victor PittsFeb 28, 2013 I'm not quite sure who's 'hating' here, but jolly good show, Pagani! Way to stay a boss!
Dennis ChoongFeb 28, 2013 Stig's probably a little apprehensive driving a car costing this much
Sam OglesbyFeb 28, 2013 No they didn't cheat they just cut some groves in a zonda r's tyres and say they are road legal
Manny PortasFeb 28, 2013 Lol hahaha stig had an off day! This thing is fast!!!! Haters
Jason ScottFeb 28, 2013 LOL, not only denied cheating but claimed it was 2 seconds slow. That's confidence!! Well played.
Brandon FischerFeb 28, 2013 I knew they wouldn't cheat. I didn't think they really had any reason to. I'm so glad they responded so quickly.
Drew HumphreyFeb 28, 2013 Pagani to the haters: "Nope we didn't cheat; we were actually just a little less awesome than we thought we could be."
Brittany SawyerFeb 28, 2013 Well its settled. Of course they wouldnt cheat.
Dylan BruderFeb 28, 2013 And pagani will just blow past the haters
Jake DulaMar 01, 2013 This is a truly great car, but I'm with the Zonda too. I just love how completely bonkers the Zonda was, this isn't quite as mental.
Jacob BurfordFeb 28, 2013 This is so sexy! Deserves to be at the top of the leader board!
Ellis YiFeb 28, 2013 Yeah the front looks off compared to The car...too many lines
Zeus MochaFeb 28, 2013 Yea something is wrong with that fascia.
Scuttle ButtocksFeb 28, 2013 Huh, never really looked at the mouth before... Looks a little bit like a catfish.
DeUahn WellsFeb 28, 2013 Yeah man, I'm team Zonda too
Wyatt GordonFeb 28, 2013 I like this, but it can never live up to the Zonda IMHO. That was just so much cooler and crazier than this will ever be.
Oscar GalvanFeb 28, 2013 Well the zonda r wasn't as beautiful as this. So now I'm really torn between this and the Agera R
Kyle RawnFeb 28, 2013 Hi Meng, and yes Brian it feels like a step back from the more radical design of the Zonda R.
Jorge GonzalezMar 01, 2013 yea they act like the air flaps on airplanes. probably more for looks though
William DownsMar 01, 2013 No there not used as air brakes, they don't go verticle enough to apply that kind of force, but u are correct with the rest though.. Really a genius idea probably my favorite feature on the car
Jared PalmerFeb 28, 2013 I think he's smuggling wood
Pablo HerasmeFeb 28, 2013 Some say that he thinks that the new Corvette and Viper are made by the same company... And that he secretly lives in an underground facility at the Nurburgring.
Miranda Nearlydriftingondreams PavelleFeb 28, 2013 @Drew yeah, I agree. It is way more fun not knowing who the Stig is. He's just The Stig. Don't need anything more than that.
Aaron CrispFeb 28, 2013 Some say his fingernails have 330bhp and his tongue can strip the paint off a Porsche in 30 seconds....
Nithin VeliyuthFeb 28, 2013 Some say, that one of his legs gets longer when he sees a pretty lady!
Erich EngelFeb 28, 2013 Oh my god too many bad jokes
Joshua ArnottFeb 28, 2013 Some say that he knows three facts about ducks, and all of them are wrong, and that his discharge is luminous. All we know is he's called the stig.
Paul TrahanFeb 28, 2013 Some say he drinks through a bendy straw and his favorite month is April. All we know is he is called The Stig!!!!
Jay YorkFeb 28, 2013 Some say he removed his pants with an Allen wrench and he's afraid of ducks...
Greg KenerlyFeb 28, 2013 Some say his blood is made of Nitrous Oxide and his bones are made of Carbon Fibre. All we know is we call him the Stig...
Wyatt GordonFeb 28, 2013 Some say he cant tell the difference between sitting in this, and on his daily driver- a fisher-price power wheels electric Jeep
Ryan LuellenFeb 28, 2013 Some say his eyes blink sideways and he loves German folk music all we know he's called the stig
Anthony Iron Maiden LuceroFeb 28, 2013 Some say his hands are made of carbon fiber. All we know is he's called the stig
Alex AlvaradoFeb 28, 2013 Some say he lacks the capability to read any human language...
Caleb McCoyFeb 28, 2013 The Stig is obviously beside himself
Oscar GalvanFeb 28, 2013 And here we can observe the stig in his natural habitat. notice how calm he is before going on the attack
Alex BouckleyFeb 28, 2013 @dylan lol that would be hilarious
Drew HumphreyFeb 28, 2013 I want The Stig to remain anonymous.
Kaigan VinerFeb 28, 2013 In order to stay true to character, if the book were to be written as the Stig, it wouldn't be comprehended by us normal folk. It would have to had been in lines of code or something. Or an audiobook of morse code
Mohammed Suhail JamilFeb 28, 2013 .... And have a small cameo on fifth gear with those top gear wannabes!! Lol
Dylan BruderFeb 28, 2013 But if it was written by the stig it would be 400 blank pages lol
Raymond ReynosoFeb 28, 2013 Seriously, Ben Collins is nuts to have let this job go for a book that didn't sell that well- just to do stunts in the new James Bond movie. He could have done that w/o revealing his name. The book would have sold more if it was written as The Stig
William DownsFeb 28, 2013 Yea idk I ran threw pirellis website and these don't match whatthey show is the trofeo in the least bit, but oh well
Matthew MckernanFeb 28, 2013 nd then they show a pic of the corsas, which look like normal road tires, for comparison.
Matthew MckernanFeb 28, 2013 I googled the pictures and I see how it's confusing cuz some of the corsas on google look similar to these, but im going off what jalopnik said because they spoke with pagani on the matter and show this exact picture saying that they're the trofeos a
William DownsFeb 28, 2013 See now I'm confused, my phone never loaded the photos from jalopnik, but whenever I Google the tires I get these under corsa, and the trofeo show up looking like the tires the jalopnik article said were the corsa, so either Google or jalopnik got there pics in the wrong place
Matthew MckernanFeb 28, 2013 corsas used in the rest of the test.
Matthew MckernanFeb 28, 2013 Did you read the right article? There were two. Because it clearly states "these are the corsa: (picture of corsa tires)" and "these are the trofeo: (same picture as above)." All I'm saying is that these are the trofeo(used for the lap) not the
William DownsFeb 28, 2013 Corsa have the long curved tread pattern, and the trofeo have a bunch if small verticle lines cut in them
William DownsFeb 28, 2013 I read the article, but what makes u think these are the trofeo, u can simply Google the corsa tire and see the direct match, the trofeo were only used for the hot lap, all the other footage was on the corsa tires
Matthew MckernanFeb 28, 2013 Just check jalopnik. Unless they are wrong, they make it very clear what pagani said and which tires are which.
William DownsFeb 28, 2013 No there not cause if u Google the trofeo and corsa u can see the pattern, just cause there torn up doesn't make then the trofeo, remember Hammond beat on the car also but he was using the standered corsa tires, when stig went to do the lap the tires were changed... Pagani was just smart and used there better track purpose street tire instead of the OEM factory ones
Matthew MckernanFeb 28, 2013 @william, these are the modified zonda R or "trofeo" tires that were used during the lap, not the corsas. At least according to jalopnik (who actually spoke to pagani) they are.
William DownsFeb 28, 2013 Marcos these are the pirelli corsa tires, not the specially cut trofeo tires, while I agree pagan in should have used the stock tires like everyone else, but top gear rules just say its gotta be a factory option... I still think it would have beaten the lap record regardless just not by as much.
Marcos CollazoFeb 28, 2013 But that Ben kid will somehow cry about how these are grooved slicks
Marcos CollazoFeb 28, 2013 Those tires sure look street legal..
Wyatt GordonFeb 28, 2013 Id beat the crap out of this- then Id polish it the second Im done lol
Angelo BaclayFeb 28, 2013 This is not a hoe money bitch ride nigga
Paul DickeyFeb 28, 2013 I feel bad for you Tyler if you can't see the craftmanship in this picture.
Jared OteriFeb 28, 2013 Yeah a HAND BUILT motor by amg. How can you not call that craftsmanship? Along with all the carbon fiber you see which is also hand layed.
Peter Mark GacekFeb 28, 2013 It's not an engine built by MB, but by AMG. There's a difference
Tyler WallaceFeb 28, 2013 Craftsmen ship ? It's a engine by MB
Daniel EadsFeb 28, 2013 This tire isn't street legal. It's what's on the zonda r. They cut groves in it to make it legal.
Kyle KloewerFeb 28, 2013 It's called smart strategy
William DownsFeb 28, 2013 These are the trofeo tires used on the zonda R witch this car is, the trofeo pagani uses for the huyara are are groved to make them street legal... Pagani fallowed the rules, tires just have to be factory, pagani was smart and tossed on one of there optional tires, its not cheating. They apparently understood the rules better
Matthew MckernanFeb 28, 2013 or not. But either way, this car is still extremely capable and probably still quicker than the atom if not the same on "normal" tires.
Matthew MckernanFeb 28, 2013 The last pic after the stig pic are the trofeos they used these are actual slicks for comparisons. The trofeos may be street legal but they are not supposed to be used in heavy rain so I guess it's still up for debate whether it was completely fair
Oscar GalvanFeb 28, 2013 Yea the shock mount and tires looks more like zonda R
Erik SchererFeb 28, 2013 If my tires looked like that, THEY wouldn't pass! lol
Dillon DixonFeb 28, 2013 Yep, gold wheel so this is the Zonda R.
Drew HumphreyFeb 28, 2013 I think these are the slicks and the next slide are the ones on the Hyuara
William DownsFeb 28, 2013 Yes this is the zonda, not the huyara notice the different shock mount, but this is the trofeo tire, crazy that that's street legal, but like already stated deffinatly not street safe
Dylan BruderFeb 28, 2013 I think this is a zonda r the wheel looks different
Barry Boo WilsonFeb 28, 2013 Next pic is the ones I believe they are talking about. Like a overpriced Toyo R888 I figure.
Barry Boo WilsonFeb 28, 2013 Street legal....not really street safe LOL! Hit a squirrels piss trail and hydro :).
Raymond ReynosoFeb 28, 2013 These are not the Pirelli Trofeo right? That would be insane.
Preston MingMar 01, 2013 yeah..Thor's helmet wouldn't fit my big ass head haha
William DownsMar 01, 2013 At least he chose a bad ass super hero
Jake DulaMar 01, 2013 All this said by a man in a superhero mask in his profile pic... Lol jk
Preston MingFeb 28, 2013 but they still have to defend them. Meaning someone has to argue the facts, I don't mind doing it ;)
Preston MingFeb 28, 2013 if it's street legal, so be it. I like controversy but I don't like being a sheep and following the herd. look at defense attorneys, they may not think their client is innocent..
Preston MingFeb 28, 2013 if tread depth is shallow..it doesn't channel water from the tire surface effectively..this creating a slick surface, therefore, hydroplaning.
William DownsFeb 28, 2013 These are the corsa tires not the trofeo tires, top gear says tires just have to be street legal and a factory option, everyone else always just send there cars bone stock, pagani fallowed then rules they got smart and took advantage of there options, not really paganis fault no one else thought to do so
Ben AugustFeb 28, 2013 @Preston: How do you know it would hydro? I mean, I'm not a "Tread Pattern Expert" so I won't say that it won't, but if it is street legal, that means it has met all safety testing standards. Do they not test in the rain?
Corey Alan KelleyFeb 28, 2013 Well Preston they're street legal tires which is what the controversy was about... So I don't think there's a flag to wave..
Preston MingFeb 28, 2013 sure you could use these on the street in dry conditions, but in no way they are safe. Love the car..but I still wave the bs flag
Preston MingFeb 28, 2013 basically all I see is a soft compound tire with grooves..so they are "wet" slicks..so that makes them street legal? I guarantee any amount of water on the road and you'd hydro right into a tree...
Jason JohnsonFeb 28, 2013 That is truly impressive! I want to see the R version of this car. Get those slicks on baby! Simply awesome!
@wes they're not.. It wasn't only car buzz that had this article
I'm just impressed that carbuzz is respected enough to get a response from Pagani.
Oh oh Looks like Pagani got alittle upset there...
It doesnt bother me if they cheated or not, I hope that the Koenigsegg will beat that record!
