Jaguar's Big F-Type Plans

Jaguar has plans to launch a unique F-Type model every 12 to 18 months - including a potential track special - between now and 2020.
How does Jaguar make one of its best-looking sports cars ever an even better performance machine? The answer is to continue evolving it in the spirit of the Porsche 911. CarAdvice is reporting that Jaguar is developing plans to launch a new derivative of its F-Type ever 12 to 18 months throughout its life cycle. Speaking to the Australian publication at the New York Auto Show, Jaguar’s global brand director Adrian Hallmark confirmed the F-Type range will expand in some very exciting ways.

Hallmark stated that we can expect "everything from a targa-top version to ultra-high-performance all-wheel-drive flagship models" to appear between now and 2020, the projected end of its lifecycle. Having worked for Porsche for ten years, he knows a thing or two on the subject. One of the reasons Jaguar feels confident to expand the F-Type’s range is because it engineered the car as a convertible from the get-go, thus making future body styles with greater body stiffness and rigidity fairly easy. Most tellingly, Hallmark says the components of the new XKR-S GT could be fitted to the F-Type as well.
