The refreshed SUV comes with a new eight-speed and fancy new infotainment tech.
taken the wraps off its significantly updated Durango, which has received
modest restyling coupled with some new infotainment technology. The most
obvious physical change to the three-row SUV is at the front that
now boasts projector-beam headlamps, LED DRLs, a “floating” crosshair grille, a
new lower fascia and a taller bumper. A redesigned rear gets Dodge’s signature
LED “racetrack” taillamps and a restyled fascia. New wheels also form part of the refresh with
18- and 20-inch options for each trim level.
Inside, rear passengers get a pair of 9" high-def video screens mounted on the back of the front-seat headrests that connect to a Blu-ray disc player. A redesigned center stack housed in a new dash comes with a 5- or 8.4-inch touchscreen complete with Uconnect Access Via Mobile that allows for hands-free internet radio listening, while a WiFi hotspot keeps mobile devices connected on the road. Other goodies include a 7-inch instrument cluster and a new heated steering wheel. The entry-level 3.6-liter V6, with 290 hp and 260 lb-ft of torque, and optional 5.7-liter HEMI V8, rated at 360 hp and 390 lb-ft, carry over.
Both engines are, however, now connected to a new eight-speed automatic transmission. As a result, Dodge says economy has improved by 9 percent over the previous model. The Pentastar V6 also now claims a best-in-class 600-mile driving range on a single tank of fuel as well as 25 mpg on the highway. The 2014 Dodge Durango will enter production this fall, with pricing to be announced nearer to launch.
