BMW X4 Coming Next Year

A new BMW crossover that will compete head-on with the likes of the Range Rover Evoque is due next year.
Anyone who’s a fan of premium crossovers will likely be overjoyed by this news. Those who could care less about vehicles such as the BMW X6 probably won’t take a whole lot of excitement from this. BMW sales chief Ian Robertson has not only confirmed that the X4 crossover will launch next year but that it will also bring in new types of customers to the German automaker. "With the X6 we have attracted a completely different buyer than for the X5," explains Robertson.

We expect the same thing to happen with the X4 versus the X3," Robertson stated to Automotive News Europe. The X4 will be built at the automaker’s production plant in Spartanburg, South Carolina, the same facility that churns out the X3, X5, and X6. Spartanburg is already at full production capacity and Robertson claims an additional 35,000 units of the X3 could have been built last year if the plant had the capabilities. In regards to the X4 itself, sources have indicated that it’ll resemble the X6 with coupe-like styling but will incorporate BMW’s latest design language and compete directly with the Range Rover Evoque.
