Dream Machines of the Vertically Challenged

Found only in Japan, Kei cars are meant to be economical and quirky-styled city cars, but some look downright ridiculous.
Go to Japan and you’ll find a car segment that doesn’t exist elsewhere: the Kei car. They’re ridiculously popular in the island nation but they never managed to catch on in the US, thank goodness. They’re not exactly Smart cars but the concept is the nearly the same; small city cars that are easy to park and are fuel efficient. They’re also completely bonkers looking and it’s possible their designers were on drugs while taking a trip to the circus. And yes, there are some owners who like to tune them.
