Published: Jul 01, 2013
Description: If you’re a Porsche purist, then there’s no question the iconic 911 is the only true sports car the brand builds. Yes, the Cayman is nice and all, but it lacks the decades of engineering perfection t...

Porsche also knows those who buy cayman eventually upgrades themselves to 911. Smart!
Aaron Abely Jul 01, 2013
Porsche has now started to allow the cayman to shine. They've found that people who by 911s and people that buy caymans do virtually no cross shopping. Though their prices car get close to each other. But still. It'll never be allowed to close.
Fakir Smith Jul 01, 2013
Yes. Way better! Everything the 911 used to be.
stephen.t.learn Jul 01, 2013
@Mitchell rear engine means the engine is behind the rear axle while mid engined has the engine in front of the rear axle
Mitchell Cook Jul 01, 2013
Stupid question. Rear engined and mid engined, much of a difference? Haha
Keith Anderson Jul 01, 2013
Think of all the money and engineering they are wasting compensating for the rear engine. They can spend it doing so much more for the midengined Cayman. What will the Cayman do without being dumbed down for the 911?!
Keith Anderson Jul 01, 2013
Porsche should give the Cayman all the technology and the beastly engines and retire the 911 peacefully. The 911 is an icon and legend, no doubt. But that 911 engine placement is gonna forever handicap it.
timothyhubert1 Jul 01, 2013
The 911 is without a doubt an icon but it also has had countless decades of engineering to correct its flaws and rear engine layout issues. The cayman if given the same power would out perform the 911 without question. Reliability and 911???? Im assuming thats you picking certain years the 996 was very unreliable and the pre 996 cars with their air cooled engines were prone to overheat among other...
Brad Wood Jul 01, 2013
Outboard? You mean reliable, efficient, fast, has its place in the world?
John M Weishahn Jul 01, 2013
911 is like an outboard.
Eli Bonner Jul 01, 2013
Just because it's mid-engined doesn't mean it's the right place...
Dylan Bruder Jul 01, 2013
It could be but they won't let it
Sam Shikora Jul 02, 2013
Have to say that I liked the original cayman the best
Ray Thomas Jul 01, 2013
This car has evolved sooo much since it debut! The 2014 is really stunning!
Jacob Burford Jul 01, 2013
Looks great. Certainly my second favorite sports car under 100k after the f type!
Paul Dickey Jul 01, 2013
Logan ad Matt I agree. From a lokos standpoint I love these a lot more than the 911
logan.neet Jul 01, 2013
These look a lot better than the 911 IMO, tough choice though
Senthil Namasivayam Jul 01, 2013
Will be putting an order down soon... When my son goes to college in 5 years...
Vinny Coppola Jul 01, 2013
I just wish they made it in all wheel drive
Vinny Coppola Jul 01, 2013
I love these. And I'm not a Porsche fan
Clay Griep Jul 01, 2013
i see a cayman all the time around my cottage!
matt.piccolo.773 Jul 01, 2013
I honestly might take a Cayman over a 911 in the looks department. I've always liked these. Atleast over a base 911
Daniel Young Jul 01, 2013
Very nice, I like it!
Bala Uncc Jul 01, 2013
Cayman is always my favorite. Love it. Saving money for it.
Gary Alaina Jul 01, 2013
This looks great, the older versions were far to feminine.
Stephen Cobbs Jul 01, 2013
Gorgeous

It could easily blow away a 911, but they refuse to let it be better!
John Santana Jul 01, 2013
Porsche should invest more in the Cayman (more variants, engine options, etc.)
Paul Dickey Jul 01, 2013
vv the GTR is in 911 territory the 911 is still the benchmark
Julio Valdez Jul 01, 2013
I like Japanese cars. For $100,000 your getting into gtr territory. Wich would blow any Porsche out the water
Jacob Burges Jul 01, 2013
The cayman actually looks better that he 911 in my opinion, so I'd definitely prefer to have a cayman. If I could afford one...
Aaron Abely Jul 01, 2013
Not to mention better off the line traction from that weight in the rear. I may be one of Porsches biggest fans. And 911s have a very large soft spot in my heart. But... This new cayman... It may just be taking up space along side it now.
Oleg Odessit Jul 01, 2013
Im Colby
Oleg Odessit Jul 01, 2013
Why Porsche even exist?? -__-
Oleg Odessit Jul 01, 2013
Best quality build car: Corvette
Oleg Odessit Jul 01, 2013
Corvettes are great
Oleg Odessit Jul 01, 2013
I watched this video and now i want Corvette
James Kao Jul 01, 2013
Not to mention better traction during standing start acceleration
Carlton Salmon Jul 01, 2013
I'd still pay the extra for a 911 over this.
Gary Alaina Jul 01, 2013
You can get two corvettes for this lol... Still a brilliant car but wow, pretty exy
Justin Mancuso Jul 02, 2013
The back is just a slanted panamera.
Bala Uncc Jul 01, 2013
This is one gorgeous rear. Love to own it one day.
Justin Mancuso Jul 02, 2013
The cayman would also out perform if it had 500 hp because of the mid engine and better weight distribution
Aaron Abely Jul 01, 2013
So depending on your preference, a cayman just may make you more happy. I honestly think I would prefer it to a 991. But you throw me a restored and hopped up air cooled 911 and all bets are off.
Aaron Abely Jul 01, 2013
Eli, maybe. However from my limited experience and what I've read, the cayman can and does deliver amazingly wonderful driving. As a matter of fact, its been said it may be a better driving experience than the 991 now...
matt.piccolo.773 Jul 01, 2013
@ eli, it depends.... do I get to keep the extra cash if I take the cayman s? If so id honestly take the Cayman.
Jul 01, 2013
Exactly Aaron. Porsche knows that the Cayman has the potential to outperform the 911 but they won't do it out fear that the 911 would become obsolete. If you search, you can find turbo Caymans on the net beating 911s.
Jacob Burford Jul 01, 2013
Looks great, and it's just simply an iconic figure!
Eli Bonner Jul 01, 2013
The base Cayman? I don't think so. However, the S has some great numbers. But when I think Porsche, I think 911 and at the end of the day I think almost everyone would be happier in a Carrera S with a manual than a Cayman S.
Aaron Abely Jul 01, 2013
Sad thing is, the cayman is within SPITTING distance of the 911. With more power which Porsche will never give it, it would outperform the 911. Porsche engineers have even go so far as to confirm this. In a round about way.
Eli Bonner Jul 01, 2013
@Andrei Just saying, this looks so good. But if you're into squished underpowered 911s, I'm not gonna argue with that logic :)
keewey Jul 01, 2013
Kinda ...dtunish
Greg Kenerly Jul 01, 2013
The 991? I've always liked the looks of the Cayman over the 911. Just better curves.
Greg Kenerly Jul 01, 2013
The 991? I've always liked the looks of the Cayman over the 911. Just better curves.
logan.neet Jul 01, 2013
Yeah and my opinion is the Cayman looks better than this
Gary Alaina Jul 01, 2013
V- this is true
Andrei Alexandru Jul 01, 2013
No, YOU need to get your head checked if you can't respect other people's opinions.
Eli Bonner Jul 01, 2013
If people think the current cayman is better than the 991, they need to get their eyes checked
Mohammed Salman Khalaf Jul 02, 2013
I think the boxster s 981 is better than Cayman and 911
Jul 01, 2013
I think the 997 rear looked better, but I think the new Cayman's rear is better looking than either. if course that's just my opinion.
Tyler Wallace Jul 01, 2013
love the that grown up ass
Scuttle Buttocks Jul 01, 2013
It's just a better car all round.
Robi Dunay Jul 01, 2013
Love the current 911 rear
Bala Uncc Jul 01, 2013
Looking great
