Although it was long denied by Mercedes-AMG, everyone knew that one day sooner or later a roadster variant of the GT would show up. Well, now we have further proof this is going to happen, thanks to our spy photographers. What you're looking at is apparently the Mercedes-AMG GT C Roadster. Question is, what does the "C" stand for? Our sources are telling us that it refers to a new engine, meaning this particular test mule is not powered by 4.0-liter bi-turbo V8 with 585 hp. So what could it be instead?

N/A

We're honestly not so sure. What we do know, however, is that Mercedes-AMG is in the midst of developing an AMG GT Black Series range-topper. That'll surely retain the V8 but output will likely be above 600 hp. The GT R variant has already been revealed but a roadster version has yet to be confirmed. Looking closer at these photos, we can tell the roof is fabric as opposed to a retracting hardtop. Remember, every pound matters. And because it's a roadster, there is a different roofline. So, when will the Mercedes-AMG GT C Roadster debut? Very soon, actually, perhaps as soon as Paris this September. If all goes to plan, customer deliveries will begin in 2017.
