The team at ‘Q by Aston Martin’ is tasked with creating the most exclusive, bespoke Aston Martin performance models, and its latest creation may just be the most phenomenal of all. The Aston Martin V12 Speedster is described as a “truly visceral driver’s car,” an apt description for the 5.2-liter twin-turbocharged V12 that puts out 700 horsepower and 555 lb-ft of torque. An eight-speed ZF automatic transmission is hooked up to the front-mid-mounted V12, with power sent to the rear wheels. A promised 0-62 mph time of 3.5 seconds is on the cards, while top speed is limited to 186 mph.
While we could harp on all day about the Speedster’s mechanicals, from the standard limited-slip differential to the bespoke exhaust system in stainless steel, its breathtaking two-seater design is what stuns more than anything else. Finished in Skyfall Silver (an appropriate nod to the Bond film) and inspired by a fighter jet, a dramatic ‘spine’ separates driver and passenger. The total absence of a roof or windscreen will raise eyebrows (quite literally when driven at speed), while the long hood features a distinctive nostril. Structural satin carbon fiber and saddle leather rub shoulders in the equally striking cabin. Even 3D-printed rubber is used inside.
The bonded aluminum architecture is said to share elements with the Vantage and DBS Superleggera, while the chassis is primarily made from carbon fiber. Guaranteed to offer a wind-in-your-hair experience like nothing else, a mere 88 examples of the hand-built Speedster will be produced, ensuring ultimate exclusivity. The price is as dramatic as the looks. At an unreal $950,000, only the most elite car collectors and enthusiasts need apply when deliveries begin in the first quarter of 2021.
