The A4 excels when it comes to safety, earning the maximum five stars overall in the NHTSA's crash ratings. The IIHS has subjected the Audi A4 to review for safety, too, and it achieved the best possible overall score of Good in each crashworthiness test, as well as a Top Safety Pick+ award for the 2022 model year.

2023 A4 Sedan Key Safety Features

As standard, the base A4 is equipped with lane departure warning, rain-sensing wipers, a rearview camera, high-beam assist, forward collision alert with low-speed autonomous emergency braking, and six airbags. Two additional rear side thorax airbags are optional, but if you want front and rear parking sensors or Audi side assist with rear pre-sense, you need to order these as part of the Convenience Package that adds other features as well.

The Premium Plus mid-range model comes with these features as standard, as well as active lane assist, a top-view 360-degree camera system, and rear cross-traffic alert. The Prestige model adds a head-up display, park assist, and traffic-sign recognition.

2023 A4 Sedan Reliability

Thus far, the 2023 Audi A4 seems to be an exemplary car in terms of reliability, having been subject to no recalls at the time of writing. 2022 models were subject to three recalls for issues relating to rearview camera display and engine control units that may short-circuit.

In the event of any issues, the A4 comes with limited and powertrain warranties that provide coverage for the first four years or 50,000 miles of ownership.
