2023 A5 Sportback Interior
Despite sporting some very high-quality materials, the interior of the Audi A5 Sportback is not as spectacular as what you'd find inside a Mercedes-Benz. The build is solid and it looks nice, but it still feels like something is missing. That said, there are plenty of standard features, including a good array of driver-assistance tech, and it's all laid out for ease of access. The large touchscreen situated high up on the dashboard means you can interact with many of the car's functions without looking away from the road. The sportback body style means that some sacrifices have to be made in the back, but the liftgate and fold-down rear seats mean that there is plenty of room for cargo.

Seating and Interior Space
The interior space of the A5 Sportback is very pleasant, and it feels suitably upscale. There is seating for up to five occupants, but the compromised rear headroom means that taller folks may not want to ride along. Front-seat passengers only enjoy 0.7 inches more headroom, though, with a total of 37.7 inches. Legroom is more generous at 41.3 inches, while those in the back row only get 35.1 inches. The front seats in the A5 Sportback are power-adjustable in eight directions and heated, with optional ventilation. Getting in and out is relatively easy, but the low roofline means that some people may have to crouch down.

Interior Colors and Materials
Leather upholstery is the norm from the base model, available in a selection of colors. These include Atlas Beige, Black, Okapi Brown, and Rock Gray. In the Premium Plus trim, the same A5 Sportback interior colors apply but here, all of this is paired with genuine wood trim along the console and the door panel. Piano black and chrome accents are available, too. The Prestige also has leather seats but with a more luxurious center insert. Overall build quality is excellent, so you won't hear any rattles when you hit uneven pavement.

More conventional sedans of this size aren't known for their massive trunks, but thanks to its inherited hatchback qualities, the Audi deviates from the norm. There is a generous 21.8 cubic feet of cargo space in the Audi A5 Sportback, and the power-operated liftgate makes accessing the area easy. This, combined with a low floor, makes packing and unpacking a simple task. The fold-down rear seats can expand the available space to an impressive 35 cubic feet so that large suitcases or a month's worth of groceries can be accommodated.
In-cabin storage is standard for the segment, comprising a glove compartment, an armrest cubby, and a few bins around the center console. Each of the four doors has a decently sized pocket, and there are cupholders in the front, and in the rear fold-down armrest.

Features
Though there are several optional packages available, the standard list of features is quite generous. Eight-way power front seats with heating start things off, while tri-zone climate control makes sure the rest of the cabin is comfortable, too. A sunroof is included, helping to air out the cabin and add some natural light, though ambient lighting is available when it gets dark. A seven-inch driver-information display keeps you informed of the car's vitals, while driver-assistance features ensure a relaxed and safe ride. These include lane departure warning, forward collision avoidance with emergency braking, and a rearview camera. The upper trims for the Audi A5 Sportback expand upon the basic offering with blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane-keep assist, parking sensors, and a surround-view camera. There is also front-seat ventilation, rear-seat heating, a heated steering wheel, keyless entry and ignition, and a head-up display.
Infotainment
The infotainment system, which runs Audi's MMI software, revolves around a 10.1-inch touchscreen. Standard functions comprise Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth, and voice control. A set of 10 speakers play audio on the lower trim, while the top two trims get a 19-speaker Bang and Olufsen 3D sound system. SiriusXM is an optional extra, along with built-in navigation. The interface is easy to use and responsive to inputs, and the graphics are clean and easy to interpret.
