Like the Q4 e-tron, the Q4 Sportback e-tron is an all-electric luxury compact crossover riding on Volkswagen's MEB platform. Think of this as a more luxurious, coupe body style version of the VW ID.4. Smaller than the already on sale e-tron and e-tron Sportback, the Q4 Sportback e-tron can supposedly travel up to 280 miles on a single charge and reach 60 mph from a standstill in 6.3 seconds.
However, a 82-kWh battery sitting between the axles delivers around 40 miles more range than the e-tron. The dashboard layout should be identical to that of its SUV (and slightly more spacious) Q4 e-tron sibling. Expect a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, a 10.1-inch infotainment touchscreen, and a two-spoke multifunction steering wheel. An optional 11.6-inch touchscreen will arrive at a later date.
The main reason for offering this Sportback body style is because not all buyers want or need the additional cargo and rear passenger headroom of the regular Q4 e-tron. The Sportback is purely for style and we predict it'll be one of the best-looking pure battery-electric vehicles on the market. A full reveal alongside the Q4 e-tron is expected on April 14.
