2023 RS5 Sportback Interior

Since the model facelift, there are no distinguishable changes made to the interior of the Audi RS5 Sportback. Despite the model not being that old, the interior design does come across as a bit dated, mainly because of the floating infotainment system. Still, the overall design is clean and visually pleasing, with high-quality materials used throughout. Audi was also one of the pioneers of the digital instrument cluster, and this still works well in the performance Sportback. Alongside the A5, the RS5 benefits from a sports steering wheel and model-specific seats and logos. There is ample cargo space as it takes on a more practical body style, although this does mean you will have to sacrifice rear passenger space a little. The cabin is flush with comfort and convenience features, however, and with a larger glass house, blindspot visibility is marginally better than that of the Coupe.

Seating and Interior Space

A quick review of the Audi RS5 Sportback's interior shows that it offers enough seating for a driver and four passengers. This is the same as the Coupe, but with the added advantage of rear doors, accessing the rear bench is significantly improved. Unfortunately, with it being a compact sedan based on a Coupe body shape, the Sportback offers a relatively poor headroom figure of 37.4 inches at the front and 36.1 inches at the rear. The front legroom figure is somewhat satisfactory at 41.3 inches, but the rear is fairly cramped with its 32.7-inches of space. If you are taller than six-feet, both of these sections are going to feel a bit cramped, and even more so if you're the unlucky tribute sacrificed to the rear middle seat.

Interior Colors and Materials

As standard, the Audi RS5 Sportback's seats and some of its trimmings inside are upholstered in black and Fine Nappa leather with Crescendo Red or Rock Gray honeycomb stitching. If you select the Competition Package, this adds the Pearl Nappa leather and Dinamica upholstery with Super Black stitching. Carbon inlays are used throughout the interior. This is complemented by a set of stainless steel sports pedals. With the RS Design Package, you get an Alcantara steering wheel, gear shift lever, and center console, red edging for the seat belts, and RS logo floor mats with red edging. The contents of this bundle are also included in the Competition Package.

2023 RS5 Sportback Trunk and Cargo Space

The Audi RS5 Sportback's trunk space measures 21.8 cubic feet with the rear hatch design. This is almost double that of the Coupe. The rear seats fold down in a 40/20/40 split for some additional interior storage space. Interior cargo solutions consist of two pocket nets at the rear of the driver and front passenger seats, a split-open compartment at the rear of the armrest for the rear row, a front center armrest with a fairly small storage compartment, two cup holders at the front, bottle holders in each door, and a rear folding armrest with two additional cupholders and a small storage facility.

The standard list includes a power tailgate, an electric panoramic sunroof and sunshade, aluminum door sills with illuminated RS logos, stainless steel pedals, three-zone climate control, an electrochromatic rearview mirror with a compass, the LED lighting package, heating for the front and rear seats, and carbon fiber inlays. Optional extras include Audi side and rear assist, adaptive cruise control, a head-up display, and a top-view camera system as part of the bundled add-ons.

Infotainment

The Audi RS5 Sportback's infotainment system may appear to be dated, but based on functionality, it still holds up against some of the competition. The 10.1-inch screen affixed to the top of the dashboard is connected to the 19-speaker, 755-Watt Bang and Olufsen 3D surround sound system. SiriusXM satellite radio, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto are standard. The Navigation package, priced at $1,500, adds the Google-based navigation system with a six-month subscription to Audi Connect Plus, featuring in-car 4G LTE connectivity.
