The mechanical specs of all three Audi S5 Sportback trims read the same - a 349-hp turbocharged V6 engine mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission and quattro all-wheel drive. They only vary in terms of the features fitted and their access to options.
The Premium is the entry-level trim and comes with automatic LED headlights, 19-inch alloy wheels, leather/Dinamica upholstery, heated front seats, three-zone climate control, cruise control, keyless entry and start, a power panoramic sunroof, a ten-speaker audio system, and a basic suite of driver assists. However, it lacks quite a few nice features the Premium Plus has, such as adaptive cruise control, parking sensors, auto-dimming and power-folding side mirrors, upgraded interior trim, a 19-speaker B&O audio system, a digital gauge cluster, a surround-view camera system, wireless phone charging, and several additional driver assists. The Prestige's main differentiators are navigation, a head-up display, heated rear seats, a parking assistant, LED/laser headlights, and a few more driver-assistance features.
To make the base Premium trim a lot more palatable proposition, many of the must-have items found in the top trims are included in a high-value Convenience package for $2,500. This includes an alarm system, adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, Audi Advanced Key, auto-dimming exterior mirrors, a heated steering wheel, a memory function for the driver's seat, SiriusXM satellite radio with a free three-month trial, and parking sensors front and rear. This is the only package offered on the Premium, with the only other available option - also applicable to the other trims - being rear side airbags for $350.
The Premium Plus and Prestige trims gain access to a lot more options, like the Warm Weather Package for $550, which includes full perforated leather and seat ventilation, and the $1,500 Navigation Package, which includes both navigation and a six-month Audi Connect Plus subscription. The $1,800 Black Optic Plus Package blacks out all the exterior trim, including the grille and badges, and adds 20-inch 5-twin-spoke two-color alloy wheels. The S Sport Package costs $2,500 and includes a sport rear differential, adaptive damping, and red brake calipers. The $900 Audi Sport Interior package includes RS Carbon trim inlays and extended red stitching. Lastly, variable-ratio Dynamic Steering can be fitted for $1,150.
