The only difference between the 230i RWD and 230i xDrive is the addition of the xDrive AWD system to the latter, with its associated performance-related advantages. The AWD cuts the 0-60-mph sprint from 5.5 to 5.3 seconds thanks to the improved traction off the line. However, the system also has a 125-pound weight penalty and adds some drivetrain drag, so the EPA mpg figures deteriorate from 26/35/29 mpg on the city/highway/combined cycle to 24/34/28 mpg. Due to the xDrive AWD system, the front-to-rear weight distribution changes from 51.6/48.4% to 52.9/47.1%.
