The M240i xDrive is identical to the M240i RWD in its interior and exterior appearance and its standard features. The only difference is the xDrive AWD system, which adds 123 pounds. While the added weight and drivetrain drag have an effect on the base 230i's fuel economy, that of the M240i xDrive is, strangely enough, slightly better than the RWD car, with the same highway and combined figures, but a 1-mpg improvement in city consumption. The added traction off the line also cuts the 0-60-mph sprint from 4.5 to 4.1 seconds. Last of all, the addition of xDrive alters the front-to-rear weight distribution a little from 51.9/48.1% to 53.1/46.9%.
