There are two core models in the range, and both can be had in rear- or all-wheel-drive configurations. The base model is the 430i in RWD and xDrive, powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-four with specs of 255 hp and 295 lb-ft of torque. The M440i models have more impressive specifications, courtesy of a 3.0-liter BMW turbocharged six-cylinder. Outputs are 382 hp and 369 lb-ft. Both variations use an eight-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters and launch control.
Kicking off the trim levels, the 430i and the 430i xDrive come standard with 18-inch V-spoke wheels, LED headlights, powered and heated side mirrors, and a black soft top. Inside there is SensaTec upholstery and open pore Fine Wood Oak Grain trim, with the new Curved Display taking center stage. This comprises 12.3-inch and 14.9-inch screens for driver information and infotainment, respectively, running iDrive 8 and pushing audio to a ten-speaker HiFi sound system. Other standard features are dual-zone climate control, power front seats, dynamic cruise control, ambient lighting, BMW's Active Driving Assistant, park distance control, and collision mitigation.
M440i models add an M Sport differential, M Sport brakes and suspension, and M Double-spoke wheels measuring 18 inches in diameter. An aerodynamic kit is added to the exterior. In the cabin, the dashboard is covered in SensaTec, and the trim is Aluminum Rhombicle Anthracite.
