There is a single 2023 BMW Alpina B8 Gran Coupe model in the range, and it is even more comprehensively equipped than the M8 Competition Gran Coupe. It has automatic LED/laser headlights with automatic high beams, 21-inch alloy wheels, a power moonroof, soft-close doors, rain-sensing wipers, keyless entry and start, and remote start.
The 612 hp and 590 lb-ft outputs produced by its 4.4L twin-turbo V8 are just 5 hp less and 37 lb-ft more than the M8 Gran Coupe's. It has the same ZF eight-speed automatic transmission. However, suspension configurations and driveline specifications differ; the xDrive all-wheel-drive system doesn't have the rear-wheel-drive option that disconnects the front wheels, and it has only two drive modes, namely Comfort and Sport. It comes with an M Sport differential, rear-axle steering, and quad exhausts, although the adaptive sport suspension with roll stabilization is Alpina-tuned.
Inside, the dashboard, seats, and steering wheel are covered in leather, all seats are heated, and the front ones are electrically adjustable and ventilated. Standard features include Live Cockpit Professional with a 12.3-inch gauge cluster and an infotainment screen of the same size, smartphone integration, navigation, wireless charging, four-zone climate control, and a 16-speaker Harman Kardon audio system. Active Guard driver-assists include adaptive cruise control with front-collision mitigation and automatic city emergency braking, and lane-keep assist.
The only available package is the Driving Assistance Professional package that, for $1,800, adds lane-keep and lane-change assist, steering assist, emergency-stop assist, an evasion aid, traffic-jam assist with partially automated steering on some mapped highways, active blind-spot monitoring, active parking assistance with automatic braking, a surround-view camera system, and active park distance control in the front and rear.
Besides the upholstery and paint options, the cheapest of the standalone options is the M Carbon roof for $2,800, while the 16-speaker Bowers & Wilkins audio system will cost you $3,400. Adding Chrome Line exterior trim and an Alcantara headliner color-coded to the seat upholstery are both no-cost options.
