The G82 BMW M4 Convertible and the Competition model are expected to debut sometime in early 2021. Like its M4 coupe sibling, power will come from a twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter six-cylinder with 473 horsepower and 406 lb-ft of torque. The Competition model will have at least 503 hp and 479 lb-ft. Both as six-speed manual and an eight-speed automatic transmission will be on offer, and rear-wheel-drive will be standard. All-wheel drive will be optional.
Like the non-M 4 Series Convertible, the M4 drop-top will have a soft-fabric roof instead of the previous model's heavier hardtop. This new roof can open and close in just 18 seconds up to speeds of 31 mph. It's also 40 percent lighter than the old hardtop.
As was the case with the outgoing model, there will be a price premium over the M4 coupe by several thousand dollars. We estimate the 2021 M4 Convertible will begin at around $74,000.
