Prospective M4 buyers get two choices when shopping for their BMW sports coupe, choosing either affordable precision in the standard M4, or exclusivity with the one-of-500 M4 CS models. Both get a turbocharged S55 inline-six displacing 3.0 liters and producing 425 horsepower in the base guise or 454 hp in CS form, with the available Competition Package on the standard model yielding 444 hp. Regardless of which you choose, 406 lb-ft of torque is present. The M4 gets the choice of a six-speed manual gearbox or seven-speed dual-clutch auto, with the CS forgoing the self-shifter.
As the pinnacle of the 4 Series range, M performance suspension, an active rear differential, and aggressive tires are standard on all, with the M4 sporting 18-inch alloy wheels while the CS gets staggered-fitment 19- and 20-inch wheels, as well as exclusive exterior color choices. Both models receive dual-zone climate control, keyless entry, LED headlights, heated power-adjustable sports seats, and an 8.8-inch iDrive infotainment system with a 16-speaker Harman Kardon surround sound system. The M4 CS adds to this with standard tunes for the gearbox, suspension, and differential from the Competition Package, as well as OLED taillights, Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires, and bespoke Alcantara interior trimming.
