If ‘the best or nothing’ describes how you buy your M cars, then the M8 Competition Convertible is a natural progression. It gets refinements to the 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 engine, eking out an extra 17 hp and a broader span of torque availability - even though it remains at 553 lb-ft - which, along with stiffened engine mounts and enhanced suspension shaves a tenth of a second from the M8’s 0-60 mph time. It gets bespoke styling, too, with Competition-exclusive Style 813M alloy wheels and black Competition badging, while the neighbors will hear you coming thanks to a standard M Sport exhaust system. It’s the little things that mean the most, with these tiny enhancements making the M8 Competition the more focused twin of the two.
