2020 Buick Regal Sportback Overview

The Regal was just overhauled for 2018, so we aren’t expecting a world of changes to show up for 2020. A few new features will show up, notably dual-zone climate controls as standard equipment. The Regal Sportback has a hatchback shape that has become popular in many German cars and the Kia Stinger lately.

The standard powertrain should continue to be the 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that the 2019 models had. The Regal will also have available heated front seats, a 4G LTE hotspot, OnStar, a seven-speaker audio system, remote start, a heated steering wheel, and SiriusXM Radio as standard equipment.

Active safety equipment can be added, and includes adaptive cruise, following distance indicators, forward automatic braking, forward collision alerts, front pedestrian braking, lane change alerts, blind-spot monitors, lane keep assist, rear cross-traffic alerts, and rear park assist.

Buick, in general, has moved in a much sportier direction in recent years. The Regal Sportback is no exception, though we’ve seen hot-rod models in the past (the GS is as close as we’ll get now). Even so, the standard Regal competes with the Acura TLX, Ford Fusion, Nissan Maxima, and Volvo V90. Pricing should start around $25,995.
