2023 XT4 Interior

The interior of the Cadillac XT4 is a mixed bag. It has attractive styling and many technology features on board, and the analog gauges can optionally be exchanged for a digital gauge cluster, but the infotainment screen is rather small by modern standards. The biggest issue we have is with the choice of materials used inside the XT4. The interior of lower-tier models make use of too many brittle plastics that have no place in a crossover aiming for premium status, and a lot of the switchgear looks more mainstream Chevrolet than luxury Cadillac. Higher up, things are a bit better, and the leatherette stitching on the dashtop is convincing, but overall, the net effect is not premium enough at the price. On the upside, space is generous all round.

Seating and Interior Space

Making up somewhat for the jittery ride, the Cadillac XT's seats are very comfortable and offer plenty of support, especially in the lumbar region. Seating comfort in the rear is good too and here you can see where the extra body length goes, as interior space is class-leading with 39.5 inches of legroom available and a competitive 38.3 inches of headroom, matching or beating most rivals. But if you're going to order the optional sunroof, try out a showroom car first with it fitted, because it may seal enough rear headroom to bother taller people, although Cadillac declines to list exactly how many inches are available with the sunroof fitted.

Interior Colors and Materials

There is a good choice of interior colors for the Cadillac XT4, regardless of trim, but the base Luxury doesn't do a convincing impression of its name. Inteluxe leatherette upholstery is used in a default Light Platinum/Jet Black interior color scheme, with the former color used on the seats, the lower half of the interior, the pillars, and the headliner, while the upper dash and door panels are decked out in the dark shade. The dashtop is also covered in stitched leatherette, and aluminum-effect trim pieces are used. Leather upholstery is optional at $1,500, but requires the $850 Cold Weather package as well, which comes with a heated steering wheel and heated front and outboard rear seats, bringing the total outlay to $2,350. The leather options are available in Jet Black/Jet Black and Light Platinum/Jet Black.

The Premium Luxury gets standard leather upholstery in the same two color choices as the Luxury's optional leather, in conjunction with diamond-cut genuine aluminum trim. When the optional ventilated front seats are ordered, perforated leather in the same hues is used, but this also requires the passenger seat to be upgraded from six-way to eight-way power adjustment and adds the Cold Weather package, for a total outlay of $1,800. This enables an additional color scheme: Sedona (tan)/Jet Black. The Sport gets Inteluxe leatherette in Black with Cinnamon accents and high-gloss genuine carbon-fiber trim. Upgrading to perforated leather automatically brings in an additional two color schemes - Light Wheat/Jet Black and Sedona/Jet Black - in addition to $3,200 worth of compulsory extras that include the Cold Weather package, ventilated and massaging front seats, an eight-way power passenger seat, and additional front-seat power lumbar controls.

2023 XT4 Trunk and Cargo Space

The Cadillac XT4's cargo space is no more than average because the generous rear legroom comes at the expense of some trunk volume. The resultant 22.5 cubic feet behind the second row is around the middle of the class and beaten by various rivals, such as the X1 and Q3. With the 60/40-split rear seat folded, a maximum of 48.9 cu-ft is liberated.

Small-item storage space is ample, with an overhead sunglasses holder, cupholders in the center console, a lockable glovebox, a slot for your phone just ahead of the lidded center-console storage compartment (said phone slot doubles as its wireless charger when this option is ordered), front door pockets that will accept water bottles, front mini-umbrella holders, rear door pockets, seatback pocket in the front seats, and two rear-seat cupholders in the fold-down center armrest.
