2019 Corvette Stingray Coupe Interior

The interior of the 2019 Stingray is one of the areas where the seventh-generation 'Vette is starting to show its age. The overall design of the interior is rather bland, with the only highlight being the driver-focused layout of the instrument and infotainment controls. The rest of the Stingray's interior is vanilla. Fit and finish is also an issue on the Stingray and doesn't come close to the premium feel of its European competition. Thankfully all the controls are easily reached by the driver, and new owners will have no problems adapting to the layout while the overall sense of space is surprising. While the Stingray is a great value proposition for those looking for a fast sports car, it is clear where corners have been cut to bring down the asking price.

Seating and Interior Space

'Interior space' and 'two-seater sports car' are not terms that go together, but the Corvette Stingray is a pleasant surprise. But first you need to be able to get inside: entering and exiting the Stingray can become a tricky affair, mainly due to the low ride height and steeply raked windshield, the wide side sills offer yet another obstacle. A trial subscription to a yoga course would've been appreciated. Once inside, the driver and passenger are greeted by a set of comfortable yet supportive bucket seats that will work as well on the track as they do on the street, but taller drivers should take note that even on the lowest adjustment, the driving position might be on the high side. Getting into the perfect driving position is made easy thanks to a standard eight-way power-adjustable driver's seat. Interior dimensions relay the space on offer, and the front legroom is especially impressive at 43 inches, but headroom measures only 37.9 inches, which can leave taller drivers feeling cramped.

Interior Colors and Materials

Chevrolet has given new owners a massive range of options when it comes to the upholstery of the Stingray. Split up according to trim levels; the 1LT is available in Jet Black, Gray, and Adrenaline Red Mulan leather seating surfaces, as well as Jet Black and Gray leather with suede microfiber inserts when selecting the competition sports seats. The 2LT shares the 1LT's options but adds Kalahari Brown to the list. Sueded microfiber inserts are also available in all colors. 3LT comes standard with Napa leather and adds Spice Red and Adrenalin Red with suede microfiber inserts to the options list. The rest of the interior is covered in a mixture of soft and hard plastics as well as leather and optional carbon fiber. The steering wheel and shifter are covered in leather, and buyers get the option of high gloss or ordinary carbon fiber inserts. While the seats have a premium feel, the rest of the interior can't match the build quality of your average Mazda hatchback.

2019 Corvette Stingray Coupe Trunk and Cargo Space

The Stingray has a trick up its sleeve when it comes to its trunk and cargo space offering. Where most other high-performance sports cars in the same league as the Corvette have to make do with small traditional trunks, the Corvette gets a hatchback-style liftgate that opens up nice and wide. This solution to the conventional sports car conundrum makes the Corvette Stingray one of the more practical two-seater sports cars you can buy today. Total space comes in at 15 cubic feet, and matched with that liftgate creates enough room to fit at least 70 folded camo shorts or four years worth of midterm earnings reports. Personal storage is limited to the glove box and secret storage space behind the infotainment display screen. The cupholders in the Stingray offer excellent support and should be able to keep beverages steady up to 0.9 Gs.

2019 Corvette Stingray Coupe Infotainment and Features

Features

Features on the 2019 Stingray are evenly spread out over three trim levels, but even in base trim, the Corvette offers some neat tricks. Standard features across the range include 19-inch alloy wheels, dual-zone automatic climate control, a color head-up display on the 2LT and 3LT, a three-spoke leather-wrapped steering wheel and gear knob and electronic cruise control. Higher trim models include an auto-dimming rearview mirror, a universal home remote, a cargo luggage shade, and a cargo net. Overall the Stingray lacks the same level of features as some of its competitors, and despite a competitive price and excellent performance, Chevrolet has failed to futureproof the C7 Stingray, and in the end, it hurts its practicality and appeal.

Infotainment

The infotainment system on the 2019 Corvette Stingray is one of the car's significant letdowns. Corvette has chosen not to include their latest generation of infotainment systems and has instead stuck with the aging MyLink system that's been serving in the Corvette and other Chevy cars for the past few years. The eight-inch screen displays information clearly, but is slow to react to inputs and feels outdated in general. Chevrolet has made sure to include most of the latest infotainment technologies which help to soften the blow. There's Bluetooth, SiriusXM satellite radio, built-in 4G LTE Wi-Fi internet and a nine-speaker premium Bose sound system, one of the highlights of the Stingray's interior. The optional ten-speaker Bose system offers concert hall levels of sound quality. Voice commands need to be precise in order for the system to process inputs, and the recognition is not as intuitive as its competitors.
