Like most, if not all, vans the Chevrolet Express Passenger Van isn't much to look at: it's a nondescript metal box. It rides on gray-painted 16-inch steel wheels with gray center caps shod with LT245/75R16E all-season tires; chrome center caps and white-painted wheels can be ordered separately at extra cost. It has Solar-Ray deep-tinted enhanced-tech glass and swing-out rear cargo doors. The swing-out passenger-side rear doors can be replaced with a sliding door at extra cost, and molded assist steps on either side can be added too. Offering a rather plain and unadorned profile, the Express Passenger Van has prominent bumpers and a grille that seems a little dated. All models are fitted with dual halogen composite headlights with daytime running lights, and while the LS has black exterior trim, the LT features a chrome exterior appearance package, comprising the grille's center horizontal bar and the front and rear lower fascias.
The Chevrolet Express Passenger Van's dimensions are substantial. In the regular-wheelbase configuration, there are 135.2 inches between the axles; the Express Passenger Van's length is 223.95 inches overall. It is 84.5-84.7 inches in height and 79.25 inches in width. Just under 20 inches gets added to the overall length of the van with the extended wheelbase configuration optioned on: this wheelbase measures 155.1 inches. As the lightest trim, the shorter 2500 LS with the V6 engine presents a curb weight of 5,991 pounds, while the heaviest trim, the substantial size of the LWB 3500 LT pushes its curb weight to 6,656 lbs when equipped with the turbodiesel engine. Ground clearance is a minimum of 8.6 inches at the rear axle.

Regardless of the trim, the Chevrolet Express Passenger Van's exterior colors comprise a choice of only four no-cost hues. It can only be had in Red Hot, Summit White, Black, or Silver Ice Metallic. Whichever color you choose, the side mirrors remain black. LS models have exterior trim in black, but LT trims get chrome highlights on the center horizontal bar in the grille and for the front and rear fascias.
Due to the utilitarian nature of the Express, the exterior color will most likely be selected with practical reasons in mind, so if you want to brand your van, you'll probably go with either white or black. Without any such requirements, we'd prefer the elegant Silver Ice Metallic, because such a big box on wheels looks slightly terrifying in red.
The workman-like Express Passenger Van makes very few concessions to luxury and to this end, a sunroof is off the menu.
Both LS and LT trims of the Express come with 16-inch steel wheels without so much as a cover on them, just a gray center cap, and with no alloy-wheel upgrade available from the manufacturer. The only available upgrades are chrome center caps and white-painted wheels.
