2022 Silverado 1500 LTD Interior

The ruggedness of the Silverado' exterior extends to the inside, prioritizing function over form. To stand the test of time on lots of hard work, the interior features lots of hard plastic. In this area, it feels far behind the more modern Silverado 1500 that was upgraded for the 2022 model year. There's plenty of room, though, particularly with the Crew Cab. Even so, there is no real sense of luxury inside, although you can opt for leather upholstery and some comfort features. The essentials are all included as standard, including a rearview camera and single-zone automatic climate control. Operating all the functions is easy thanks to an ergonomic layout, and many can be accessed via the steering-wheel controls, too. Moving through the trim levels adds some luxuries like a heated steering wheel or a premium Bose sound system.

Seating and Interior Space

The maximum occupancy and overall spaciousness of the interior is determined by the cabin you choose. The Regular Cab comes equipped with a single, three-seater bench, making it unsuitable for a family that includes children. For that, the Double or Crew Cab are better choices. Depending on trim level, you either get two benches, allowing for a total occupancy of six, or two bucket seats in the front and a bench in the backs, supplying seating for up to five passengers. Getting in and out of the vehicle is easy thanks to the high step-in height, and there are assist handles to make it even easier. However, the A-pillars are large and thick, hindering visibility somewhat. The commanding riding height does instill a certain sense of confidence, though.

Interior Colors and Materials

The materials used throughout the interior of the 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 LTD are hardy but not particularly high-quality or luxurious. On the base-level Work Truck, you get Jet Black vinyl, though cloth upholstery is a no-cost option. The Custom only has Jet Black cloth. The Gideon/Very Dark Atmosphere interior is an extra color option in cloth for the LT and upwards, but leather upholstery is available in the same hues. From the LTZ, perforated leather becomes the norm, but no additional colors are presented. The High Country gets access to Jet Black/Umber.

2022 Silverado 1500 LTD Trunk and Cargo Space

How much cargo space you get comes down to the length of the bed you choose. The shortest cargo bed measures five-foot, eight inches in length and supplies a total of 62.9 cubic feet of space. This increases to 71.7 cubic feet with the larger six-foot, six-inch bed. If you still need more room, you'll have to opt for the eight-foot bed, which is only available with the Regular Cab in Work Truck guise. It does give you access to an impressive 89.1 cubic feet of cargo capacity, though. There are a total of 12 cargo tie-down supplied as standard within the cargo bed to help you load and secure your cargo. At the top end of the trim spectrum, the tailgate is power-operated for easier access.

In-cabin storage is similarly affected by the overall size of the cabin. The Regular Cab gives those up front a pair of cupholders and door pockets, as well as two glove boxes. This makes up for the lack of a center armrest cubby. The Double and Crew Cab do supply this if you opt for a five-seater configuration, along with back door pockets. There are packages available to install underseat storage in the back, but the 60/40-split folding rear seats can add a little extra storage space in a pinch. The same package, which is standard on the top-tier LTZ and High Country, includes a rear seat fold-down armrest with cupholders.

2022 Silverado 1500 LTD Infotainment and Features

Features

The Silverado 1500 LTD isn't the most featureful of pickup trucks, focusing more on its strengths as a workhorse. This is particularly true of the base-level WT, which gets not much more than single-zone climate control, manually adjustable front seats, a 12-volt power outlet, and a rearview camera. The Custom is a modest step up, adding cruise control, remote start, and heated, power-operated side mirrors.

Next up, the LT includes keyless entry, a 4.2-inch driver-information display, heated front seats, and dual-zone climate control. The penultimate LTZ adds some much-needed driver assists like front and rear parking assist, an HD rearview camera, lane change alert, blind-spot alert, and rear cross-traffic alert. It also receives a 120-volt power outlet, driver-seat memory, and additional rear USB ports. A larger eight-inch driver information screen is a big improvement to the High Country, along with wireless charging.

Infotainment

The entry-level models in the Silverado range make do with a seven-inch touchscreen, though the LT upwards upgrade to a larger eight-inch model. Standard functions include Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Bluetooth streaming. The WT Regular Cab gets a rudimentary two speaker sound system, while the rest of the range enjoys a six-speaker setup. Only the High Country comes standard with the premium Bose seven-speaker system. The LTZ's infotainment system has an HD color screen, is in-vehicle apps compatible, and has voice recognition, while the High Country is the only trim to get navigation, though this is hardly relevant with all the phone apps we have access to. Wi-Fi hotspot capability is included from the Custom, along with SiriusXM. Wireless phone projection is standard on the LTZ and High Country only.
