No NHTSA review of the 2022 Silverado 1500 LTD has been conducted, and neither have crash tests of the 2021 Silverado 1500 (essentially the same truck) been held. The IIHS has evaluated the Silverado 1500 LTD Crew Cab, however. Most crash scores returned a Good rating but the small overlap front test on the passenger side only managed a Marginal rating. In addition, the truck's headlights received a Poor rating.
There aren't a lot of advanced safety features in the Silverado, but it does get six airbags as standard, along with ABS, stability and traction control. A rearview camera is standard from the base level, along with a teen driver system, but upper trims get access to an HD rearview camera, front and rear parking assist, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and lane change alert. Optional systems include lane-keep assist with lane departure warning, forward collision alert with automatic braking, adaptive cruise control, and a safety alert seat.

Pickup trucks generally boast exceptional reliability standards and the Silverado doesn't deviate from this norm. In J.D. Power's consumer survey, it earned an impressive 83 out of 100 in this category and a total 82 for overall owner satisfaction. There have been no recalls for the 2022 Silverado 1500 Limited, but the 2021 Silverado 1500 on which it is based was recalled a total of five times for certain models. Reasons included an incompatible spare tire, missing metal tabs on the driver's side airbag, incorrect bolts used to attach the seatbelts, overcured tires, and an improperly secured front center seatbelt.
Every new 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 LTD pickup is covered by a three-year/36,000-mile basic warranty. There is also a five-year/60,000-mile powertrain/drivetrain warranty and roadside assistance for the same time period. In the case of the diesel, the latter warranty's mileage is extended to 100,000 miles.
