2023 Silverado 1500 Safety
The NHTSA has not fully evaluated the Silverado but the tests that have been done have been encouraging. All derivatives achieved a five-star rating for the side crash and a four-star rollover score. Last year's model received a more comprehensive review and scored an overall front crash test rating of four stars. Over at the IIHS, the Silverado Crew Cab attained Good scores in every crash test except the small overlap front test on the passenger side, for which it only managed a Marginal score.

2023 Silverado 1500 Reliability
J.D. Power's overall rating for the Chevrolet Silverado 1500 is a solid 85 out of 100, with 87 for quality and reliability, specifically. There has been a single recall for the current model for running lights that may deactivate, which was a carry-over from the previous year, which saw an additional two recalls for airbags that may not deploy and inoperative high-mounted brake lights.
Chevrolet's basic warranty runs for three years or 36,000 miles, This matches Ford's basic warranty for the F-150. The Silverado also has a three-year/36,000-mile corrosion warranty and rust-through cover for six years or 100,000 miles. A single scheduled maintenance visit is covered for one year. A five-year/60,000-mile powertrain/drivetrain warranty is standard, with the mileage limitation increasing to 100,000 miles for the diesel and/or any qualified fleet purchase. Finally, five years or 60,000 miles of roadside assistance is inclusive; again, opting for the diesel or qualifying fleet purchases raises the mileage limitation to 100,000 miles.
