There are five trims of the Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD truck, and they are Work Truck (WT), Custom, LT, LTZ, and the range-topping High Country. All three cab layouts - Regular Cab, Double Cab, and Crew Cab - are available on the WT and LT trims. The Custom can only be had from Double Cab and up, while the LTZ and High Country can only be had with the Crew Cab. A 6.6-liter gas V8 engine with 401 hp and 464 lb-ft is the standard engine and is mated to a six-speed automatic transmission. All models can optionally be upgraded to a 6.6-liter Duramax diesel inline-six with 445 hp and 910 lb-ft of torque, in which case it is mated to a ten-speed Allison automatic transmission. Rear-wheel drive is the standard layout on all models except the High Country, which is 4WD only; however, 4WD is optional on all RWD trims.
The WT comes with silver-painted 17-inch steel wheels, 12 cargo tie-down hooks, halogen headlights, and daytime running lights. The infotainment suite's touchscreen measures seven inches, and it supports Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto. The audio system has two speakers on the Regular Cab and six on the others. Standard safety kit includes a Teen Driver system, stability control, six airbags, and a backup camera with Hitch Guidance.
Higher trim levels get access to upgraded 4.2-inch driver-information displays, eight-inch infotainment screens, all-LED exterior lights, a seven-speaker Bose audio system, ten-way electrically adjustable and heated front seats, and more.
The Silverado 2500HD is highly customizable, with a host of available packages and standalone options. The WT Safety Package ($1,090) for the Work Truck adds front and rear parking assist, lane-change alert, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert.
