The exterior styling of the Chevrolet Trax has been significantly overhauled for the new generation to make it far more modern, or even head-turning if we're being honest. A new mesh pattern is used to make a more distinctive grille, while the LED headlights sit closer to the corners of the front fascia. Resting along the top of the grille are the sleek LED daytime running lights. Depending on the trim, you get a gold or blacked-out Chevy bow tie positioned high up on the grille. From the rear, the Trax hasn't changed as much, though it is less blocky, and the taillights now wrap around the sides. The wider stance of the SUV makes the bumper look less chunky, too. In terms of wheels, you get 17-inch steel rims on the base LS, upgrading to 17-inch alloys on the LT. The 1RS and Activ get larger 18-inch alloys, while the 2RS has the most imposing 19-inch wheels.
Upper trims can be equipped with a power sunroof.
The Chevrolet Trax has grown considerably, according to its larger dimensions. It now has a length of 178.6 inches, almost 12 inches more than the last generation. This, along with a 106.3-inch wheelbase, helps to create a spacious cabin. Without the mirrors, width is 71.7 inches, while the vehicle stands at a height of 61.4 inches, depending on the trim. The new generation has a bit more ground clearance at 7.3 inches, but it's still not enough for hardcore off-roading.
The curb weight of the Trax starts at 2,985 pounds for the LS and goes up to 3,029 lbs for the 2RS.

Chevrolet offers you a fair number of exterior colors for the Trax, starting with plain old Summit White. The rest are all metallic in hue, including Mosaic Black, Crimson, Blue Glow, Sterling Gray, and Harvest Bronze, or even Cayenne Orange if you are willing to pay an extra $395. The 1RS, 2RS, and Activ get slightly different palettes.
Certain other trims are available with Cacti Green, Nitro Yellow Metallic ($395), and Fountain Blue ($395).
If you like making a statement, the Nitro Yellow is certain to turn a few heads. However, Sterling Gray Metallic is a far more reserved shade that gives the vehicle a more upmarket air.
Any of the premium paints will cost you $395 over the base asking price.
While none of the models get a sunroof as standard, each trim from the 1RS up can be equipped with it as part of the Sunroof Package.
Though it can be difficult to spot at first, the Trax has a single tailpipe under the rear bumper.
As standard, the SUV comes equipped with 17-inch steel wheels, but these can be upgraded to 19-inch machined-alloy wheels on the 2RS. Some middle trims have 18-inch alloys.
