The new Chevrolet Trax generation is presented in five trim levels: LS, 1RS, LT, 2RS, and Activ. Standard specifications include a 1.2-liter three-cylinder engine making 137 horsepower and 162 lb-ft of torque, mated to a six-speed automatic transmission. Only front-wheel drive is offered.
Every model comes equipped with LED headlights and daytime running lights, and wheel sizes start at 17 inches and max out at 19 inches. Other specs of the entry-level Trax LS include manual air conditioning, manual front seats, cruise control, a 3.5-inch driver-info display, an eight-inch infotainment display, wireless smartphone integration, Wi-Fi capability, and four speakers. Safety comprises forward collision avoidance, lane-keep assist, and lane-departure warning
Options expand as you move up the various Chevrolet Trax trims or add packages, with features including automatic climate control, heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, an 11-inch touchscreen display, six speakers, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and a sunroof.
Chevrolet really wants to keep the cost of the Trax as low as possible. As such, it only offers a handful of packages, all at less than $1,000. The most expensive is the LS Convenience Package for the base LS, which helps the cheaper model compare better with the upper trims. It costs $995 and adds remote start, heated exterior mirrors, heated front seats, and 17-inch alloy wheels.
The LT Convenience Package for the LT only costs $595, since that trim already includes some of these features. It further adds proximity keyless entry, heated exterior mirrors, and heated front seats. The Driver Confidence Package is a must, as it includes rear cross-traffic alert, blind-spot monitoring, and lane change alert. It costs $250 on the LS and 1RS, but $650 on the LT, 2RS, and Activ since it also adds adaptive cruise control for these trims.
The Sunroof Package is available to every trim above the LS. For most, it costs $795, but the Activ asks for an extra $100 since it adds wireless charging too.
