2020 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat Review: Welcome To The Jungle

Yes, the Dodge Challenger has been around for a while, but it remains one of the most charming modern muscle cars around, and in its most potent form - the 2020 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat - it is an unstoppable force of American boldness reminiscent of the originals some three generations and 50 years ago. Rivals such as the Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 and Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 choose to focus less on outright power and try to incorporate some handling capability into their resume, but that's all to the benefit of the Hellcat, which stakes its claim as one of the only true straight-line muscle monsters on the market. In Redeye form, this icon produces a maddening 797 horsepower from a supercharged Hemi V8 and will bolt to sixty in only 3.5 seconds. Over and above the crazy figures, this car is still comfortable, practical, and worth every dime, and if a review of the 2020 Dodge Challenger Hellcat doesn't tell you this, a test drive surely will.

Verdict: Is the 2020 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat coupe A Good car?

You can't help but love the Challenger SRT Hellcat's commitment to being an all-out, unashamed straight-line muscle car. Sure its competitors offer a more balanced package (and by that, we mean they can actually go around a corner and hunt lap times), but some love the fact that the Hellcat is such a one-trick pony, and we do too. That 6.2-liter HEMI engine is central to the Hellcat's charm and delivers crushing performance. Yes, it will ruin your bank balance at the gas station, but trust us, once you feel that punch for the first time, money goes out the window. On the inside, this car is spacious and has some of the comfiest seats around. The material choices aren't class-leading, but it makes up for that with an excellent infotainment system and lots of trunk space. In terms of safety, there's no official safety rating, but who cares? Sit down, strap up, and hold on. For the price of the 2020 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat coupe, you simply can't beat it's combination of addictive brutality and noise.

What 2020 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat Model Should I Buy?

It doesn't matter whether you go for the standard Hellcat, the widebody version, or the Redeye; you're going to be bowled over by the sheer performance on offer, and good luck finding traction in any spec. As the Hellcat is all about power, we'd go with the Redeye because why not? For options, we'd go with the $495 Technology Group package that adds safety features such as forward collision warning, adaptive speed control, and rain-sensing windshield wipers. While we're at it, the $1,295 Driver Convenience Group package would be a good idea, as it adds further safety tech such as blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic detection, and high-intensity discharge headlamps. In terms of appearance add-on such as Alcantara leather and the sorts, we'll leave that up to you.
