2021 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat Review: The Final Boss

In a world where everyone demands high-speed and brand-new everything, the third-generation 2021 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat stands out as somewhat of an anomaly. Yes, it makes absurd amounts of power, but it's more than a decade old and not getting any younger. The Challenger SRT Hellcat coupe is quite possibly the most iconic modern muscle car on the scene and demands massive respect, no matter your preference. With close to 800 horsepower on tap from that supercharged 6.2-liter V8 engine in Redeye form, this car is no joke, but with sharper competitors such as the Ford Mustang Shelby GT swimming in the same pond, the Challenger is a dying breed. You'll never see a car like this ever again, and for that reason alone, we love it dearly. In this 2021 Dodge Challenger Hellcat review, we'll try to convince you why this is one of the best cars on US roads right now.

2021 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat Changes: 🚙What's the difference vs. 2020 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat?

For 2021, a new Challenger SRT Super Stock model is added to the range, which uses an 807-hp derivative of the Redeye's enhanced Hellcat engine. The Super Stock has been optimized for drag-strip performance with specially tuned drag-strip-optimized suspension, drag radials, and several other upgrades to maximize its launch performance. That model is reviewed separately, though. As for the remaining SRT Hellcat models, some new paint colors have been added for the new year, but basically, nothing else has changed.

Engine and Transmission

Powering this all-American muscle car is a supercharged HEMI 6.2-liter V8 gas engine producing 717 hp and 656 lb-ft of torque. These numbers are pushed to 797 hp and 707 lb-ft in the Redeye model. Power is sent to the rear-wheel drivetrain via a 6-speed manual or eight-speed automatic transmission. With all that power on tap, performance is massive: the 2-door Dodge Challenger Hellcat coupe will sprint to 60 mph in only 3.7 seconds in Redeye guise, and a top speed of 203 mph is possible if you have the balls.

Verdict: 🏁Is the 2021 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat a good coupe?

Some might think of this American weapon of mass tire destruction as a one-trick pony, but it's much more than that. Firstly, it's a style icon and demands respect whenever it's spotted on the road. Secondly, this is a practical family vehicle if you disregard the disgusting amount of money you'll spend on keeping it fueled up. It has lots of interior space, it's super comfortable to drive, and there's even a decent trunk in the back. The 2021 Dodge Challenger Hellcat has also proven its reliability, and it has a decent safety rating. Obviously, those who buy this car will do so for its insane performance. It still amazes us that this car is road legal, especially in manual guise. It's very quick, very loud, and absolutely fantastic. We recommend getting one of these legendary sports cars before they go extinct.

🚗What 2021 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat Model Should I Buy?

We wouldn't bother looking at anything other than the hardcore Redeye, which starts with an MSRP of $71,365. We'd get one painted in Hellraisin purple and add two Gunmetal Stripes. We'd also add the P Zero Summer tires for extra grip. On the inside, we'd opt for the $2,095 Plus Package, which adds features such as Alcantara and Nappa leather seats, a premium stitched dashboard, dark engine-turn interior accents, and more. The $1,295 Technology group package is also a must and adds tech such as adaptive speed control and forward collision warning. The price of the 2021 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat coupe with this build totals $81,035 including a $1,595 destination charge
