With gas and PHEV powertrain configurations representing two distinctly different sets of mechanical specs, the Dodge Hornet trims are the GT, GT Plus, R/T, and R/T Plus; the first two are gas, and the latter two plug-in hybrids. The gas trim levels are powered by a 268-hp turbocharged 2.0-liter engine and have standard AWD, while the 288-hp R/Ts have a plug-in hybrid powertrain comprising a turbocharged 1.3-liter engine, electric e-Motor assistance, and a battery pack. The default transmission on the gas trims is a nine-speed automatic, while the PHEV powertrain has different hardware specifications, and features a six-speed automatic. Standard features across the lineup include automatic LED headlights, 17-inch alloy wheels, a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster, and dual-zone climate control with rear air vents. The infotainment system has a 10.25-inch touchscreen, smartphone mirroring, SiriusXM, Bluetooth audio streaming, and a six-speaker audio system.
The GT's manually operated cloth/leatherette seats are upgraded to heated, ventilated, and powered leather seats higher up in the range, with other features such as bigger wheels, navigation, a premium audio system, navigation, a wireless charging pad, HD Radio, and a sunroof also being added. Driver assists fitted to all trims include adaptive cruise control, forward-collision warning, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and lane-keep assist. Among the various package options, you can add larger wheels, black-out exterior treatment, and additional driver-assistance features that include front parking sensors and a surround-view camera.
The Cold Weather Group package is offered as a $495 option on the GT and adds heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, and remote engine start (all the other trims already come with the heated seats and steering wheel). Most of the other three available packages are available to both the GT and GT Plus, the first being the $1,995 Blacktop package that adds gloss-black exterior trim, badging, and mirrors, along with black 18-inch Abyss wheels. The $2,245 Tech Pack (which Dodge specifies comes without parallel and perpendicular park assistance) equips the Hornet with front parking sensors, driver-drowsiness detection, intelligent speed assistance, a surround-view camera, and a Level 2 semi-autonomous Active Driving Assistant System added to the adaptive cruise control, with lane centering.
The $2,995 Track Pack that is reserved for the GT Plus comes with dual-stage valve adaptive suspension dampers, black 20-inch Abyss alloys, red brake calipers, aluminum doorsills, and Alcantara seat upholstery.
