While it may not possess the most attractive or novel aesthetic or perform in any manner that differentiates from the countless other midsize SUVs out there in the USA, the 2021 Ford Edge is still a very attractive offering in the market as one of the most well-rounded options available. Powering either the front- or all-wheel drivetrain of all four 2021 Edge models is a zestful 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-4 engine that releases up to 250 horsepower. With this powertrain, the Edge SUV delivers sound and reliable performance while also remaining impressively thrifty on fuel consumption. When properly equipped, the modern cruiser will also be able to lug around up to 3,500-pounds with ease. This year, the Edge also comes outfitted with a good selection of all-new upgrades, including Ford's new Sync 4A infotainment system, which is host by a new, massive 12-inch touchscreen display. The 2021 Edge is a pretty straightforward and conventional car, but there's not much more one can expect from a car in the classification and at the price, plus, the only other alternatives are the Kia Sorento, Hyundai Santa Fe, and Honda Passport as the few remaining midsize two-row SUVs.
The second-gen Ford Edge SUV sees several decent upgrades this year, including new paint colors and an enhanced infotainment system. All trim levels get new wheel designs, and two new shades of gray join the exterior color palette. For added safety, rear parking sensors are now standard issue. The most important new feature for 2021 is the upgraded Sync 4 infotainment system, with its sizable 12-inch display.

Though not very flashy or even a little unique, the 2021 Ford Edge is still quite a handsome-looking vehicle, and not just on the outside. Its cabin is modern, nicely put together, and ergonomic, and you get all the necessities a modern-day car should come with and more. There's plenty room up-front for the driver and passenger, but only two will really find comfort in the rear. There's plenty of in-cabin storage space, though, and you'll be able to fit a good amount of goodies in the trunk. In terms of performance, the 2.0-liter unit provides plenty of oomph and returns decent fuel economy figures, too, and the available AWD is a nifty benefit. It's not nearly as enjoyable to drive as, say, some of its Japanese contemporaries, but it's a comfortable vacation cruiser and pragmatic everyday runabout. Ford's new Sync 4 infotainment system is a standout, and Ford ensures that the Edge is comprehensively outfitted with advanced driver assists and safety features even at the base level. The 2021 Ford Edge has also undergone review by the NHTSA and IIHS for its crashworthiness and earned itself a good safety rating that is matched with promising reliability expectations. All in all, the Edge is a very nicely rounded 5-do vehicle and a good pick for any discerning household head.
