The hybrid powertrain is exclusive to a single trim level of the Ford Explorer: the Limited Hybrid. Under the hood of the large SUV lies a 3.3-liter naturally aspirated V6 paired to an electric motor to deliver a combined 318 hp and 322 lb-ft. This power is regulated by a ten-speed modular hybrid transmission and distributed to the rear wheels as standard, with optional intelligent all-wheel-drive.
The SUV rides on 20-inch alloy wheels and gets automatic headlights with LED accent lighting. Standard features comprise tri-zone climate control, keyless entry and ignition, an eight-inch touchscreen display, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and a 12-speaker Bang & Olufsen sound system. It also gets quite an extensive suite of advanced safety features that include front and rear parking sensors, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and pre-collision avoidance. Available features include Active Parking Assist+, a rear-seat entertainment system, a twin-panel moonroof, and blind-spot and rear cross-traffic alert with trailer coverage.
