2023 F-150 Lightning Exterior
The Ford F-150 Lightning's exterior design is arguably even better than that of its ICE sibling. The futuristic front grille and single headlight bar tie in perfectly with the straight-cut profile of the rest of the car. The base model features black front and rear bumpers, LED headlights with dynamic bending, a Carbon Black grille, and 18-inch wheels with black high gloss pockets. Higher up in the range, the wheel size - and consequently the tires - grows to 22 inches. Spending more on the XLT gets you body-colored bumpers, a Geometric Gray-ion fine Satin Metallic grille, and signature front lighting. The Lariat gains a handy power tailgate and LED box lighting, while its wheels grow to 20-inch Dark Carbonized Gray items. Finally, the top-spec Platinum features a Vador Black and Tinted Chrome grille, carbon black fixed extended running boards with enhanced lighting, and a twin-panel moonroof.

Dimensions
The 2023 Ford F-150 Lightning's dimensions classify it as a full-size pickup truck and measures 232.7 inches in length. The truck rolls on a 145.5-inch wheelbase and is 78.3 inches tall and 96 inches wide when one includes the side mirrors. The track widths are 68.1/68.3 inches front/rear, respectively.
For those brave enough to take the F-150 Lightning off-roading, the approach/departure/ramp breakover angles are 24.4/23.6/17.6 degrees, respectively. By comparison, the regular F-150's numbers are as much as 24.9/26.3/23.8 degrees, partially because the gas-powered F-150 is available in different body styles. With 8.4 inches of ground clearance, the F-150 Lightning has an inch less clearance than the F-150. Overall, then, it's obvious that the conventionally-powered F-150 is a better bet for more serious off-roading.
All those batteries make the F-150 Lightning a hefty boy; this truck's base curb weight is 6,015 pounds, but it weighs as much as 6,893 lbs in Platinum guise.

Exterior Colors
In base configuration, the handsome Lightning is offered in nine different colors. The palette starts with Agate Black Metallic and also includes Antimatter Blue, Carbonized Gray, Iconic Silver, Oxford White, Rapid Red Tinted Clearcoat ($495), Stone Gray, Avalanche, and Azure Gray Metallic Tri-Coat ($795). We think the Lightning looks great in black, but we're also partial to Antimatter Blue Metallic.
The XLT shares the base model's color availability, but the Lariat and Platinum also have the option of Star White Metallic Tri-Coat for $795.
Overall, there are just enough exterior colors for the 2023 Ford F-150 Lightning to satisfy most tastes.
