For some reason which Ford has never successfully been able to explain, the Focus, which was a big sales hit in both the US and Europe, evolved at a faster rate in Europe than it did on Ford’s home turf. This means that Europe was a generation ahead for a number of years, but with the 2012 model, Ford has once again made the Focus truly global, and this is very good news indeed. The hatchback, in particular, is a huge improvement, thanks largely to how important Europe has been to the Focus, and how much that continent loves hatchbacks.
