With no options and the hybrid powertrain, the Maverick XL makes it possible to get behind the wheel of a practical truck for under $20,000. It’s not entirely bereft of features, though. There’s a user-friendly infotainment system with a bright touchscreen, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and USB inputs. Basic safety gear like pre-collision warning and a rearview camera is standard, and it doesn’t cost much more to add blind-spot monitoring and cross-traffic alert. Durable cloth upholstery and basic steel wheels don’t detract from the Maverick’s honest appeal.
