2023 Transit Passenger Van Interior
While spacious, the interior of the Ford Transit Passenger Van is rather bland. There aren't a lot of features, so the dashboard and center console look empty. The choice of materials also leaves much to be desired. This won't be much of a problem for buyers who want to use the van for truly commercial purposes. However, large families may find the hard plastics of the interior a bit depressing on long trips, and the lack of comforts combined with the subpar standard infotainment system won't do much to distract them. Luckily, there are some upgrades on offer to make the van more liveable.

Seating and Interior Space
The seats of the Ford Transit Passenger Van can be arranged in a number of ways, which makes it one of the most configurable and accommodating vans out there. You could technically make it a two-seater, but then you may as well get a Cargo Van. The more common arrangements start at five seats, but you can fit as many as 15 people inside the van. In-between options include seating for 8, 10, 12, or 14 people. No matter how many you opt for, the legroom is always the same for everyone behind the second row - they get 35.6 inches. This is actually more than the 33.7 inches available to the second row. The driver and front passenger get the most interior space with 41.3 inches of legroom. Headroom depends entirely on the roof you choose and can range from 40.6 inches up to 65.2 inches. As standard, the front seats are two-way manually adjustable, but ten-way power seats are available.

Interior Colors and Materials
You don't get much choice when it comes to interior colors and materials used in the Ford Transit Passenger Van, and while leather is an optional upgrade to the otherwise workday cloth, it isn't of a very high quality and it's only offered on the XLT. Said leather is available only in Ebony, while the base-level cloth gets an additional option - Dark Palazzo Gray - with vinyl available in the same shade. There are plenty of hard plastics around the cabin, especially around the dash and door panels. On the plus side, the cabin can handle a lot of wear and tear, so it's well-suited for younger children.
2023 Transit Passenger Van Trunk and Cargo Space
How much cargo space is left in the Ford Transit Passenger Van will largely depend on how many seats are installed in the cabin. With nothing behind the first row, there is a staggering 224.5 to 461.9 cubic feet depending on roof and body length. However, most buyers will have at least five seats, which leaves a luggage compartment of 140.5 to 313.1 cu-ft. Behind the third row of seats, a space of 94.2 to 230 cu-ft can be made available, while 39.1 to 184 cu-ft is present behind the fourth row. If you do go for the full five-row layout, you only get a trunk volume of 15.3 cu-ft with the low roof, so you'd be better off with the high roof, which leaves you with 100.5 cu-ft. Depending on the trim you choose, the van can handle payloads of between 2,918 pounds and 3,494 lbs.
In-cabin storage is a mixed bag, with the front two passengers getting door pockets and four cupholders - two in the center console and one each on the far sides of the dashboard. There is one cupholder each for outboard passengers seated in the second to fifth rows, molded into the side panels. If you want to store some larger items, the large glovebox is very accommodating. There are also a few bins around the center console and dash.

2023 Transit Passenger Van Infotainment and Features
Features
The Ford Transit is all business, coming equipped with only the bare essentials in base form. These include manual front and rear air-conditioning, a 12-volt power outlet, and two-way manual front seats. However, the Ford Co-Pilot360 is good even in base guise since it includes forward-collision warning, pre-collision assist, post-collision braking, and lane-keep assist. This is enhanced with blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and active park assist with both reverse sensing and side-sensing when you upgrade to the XLT. The available infotainment upgrades mentioned below come bundled with additional driver assists as well, such as adaptive cruise control, intersection assist, and traffic-sign recognition.
Infotainment
The infotainment suite, if you want to call it such, in the XL is extremely minimalist. It comprises only a four-inch display, an aux input, and two USB ports, allowing access to Bluetooth and AM/FM Radio. The standard four-speaker system can also be upgraded to incorporate an additional four speakers. On the XLT, the infotainment system is upgraded to a Sync 4 12-inch display that adds navigation, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto. Any one of a variety of Sync 4 variations with the 12-inch display can be optioned on, each containing more features than the previous. These include HD Radio and SiriusXM, among others.
