2023 Savana Passenger Van Interior

The interior of the Savana is dour, and nothing but vast slabs of featureless gray and black plastic are the order of the day. Controls were fired at the dashboard and stuck where they landed. It looks its age. There isn't a touchscreen in sight, but everything is functional and easy enough to use. In here, it's all about space, not style or the tactility of the materials used. Regular Wheelbase trims are smaller with one fewer seating row, but even the LTs can barely be distinguished from the LSs inside, were it not for a few details such as the steering-wheel controls, carpeting, and cloth front seats.

Seating and Interior Space

There are no fewer than 12 seats in the GMC Savana Passenger Van Regular Wheelbase, spread over four rows. The Extended Wheelbase has seating for 15 passengers thanks to an additional row courtesy of the 20 inches of additional length. Due to the box-like shape, the overall interior space is huge, but space for individual passengers is restricted by the number of seats crammed into the interior. Nevertheless, 40.85 inches of front headroom is plentiful and even at the very back of the 15-seater, this figure drops to a still-reasonable 37.6 inches. Front legroom is 41.35 inches, dropping to 36.58 inches for all the rows behind it, except for the fifth row in the Extended Wheelbase, which is again a bit smaller with a figure of 34.1 inches. Due to the upright seating, most is made of the available body length and the front four rows are fine for all but the tallest adults. The upright sides mean shoulder room is good, varying between 69.1 and 65.75 inches in the first four rows - and a minimum of 62.9 inches for the fifth row. Access to the front seats is easy due to the big doors and rear-seat passengers have a set of tall swinging doors on the passenger side to gain access; this can be exchanged for a sliding door.

Interior Colors and Materials

The interior colors of the GMC Savana Passenger Van are restricted to black and gray, with no other options available. The LS comes with vinyl seat upholstery in Medium Pewter (another word for gray) and black rubberized flooring. Cloth front seats are optional on the LS and standard on the LT, and the LT gets floor carpeting.

2023 Savana Passenger Van Trunk and Cargo Space

The cargo space of the GMC Savana Passenger Van is vast, especially if you start removing seating rows. 91.5 cubic feet of trunk volume is available in the Regular Wheelbase with the seats in place and in the Extended Wheelbase, this is 127.2 cu-ft. With all seating rows removed, the Regular Wheelbase offers 218.5 cubes up to the first row - or 255.5 cubes for the Extended Wheelbase. Oddments storage is decent, with a large glove compartment and a center console with three cupholders and an open storage box - exchanged for a lidded swing-out deluxe storage compartment on the LT. There are door pockets in the front doors, but they are too narrow to accept bottles. There is a number of small receptacles in the dashboard.

2023 Savana Passenger Van Infotainment and Features

Features

The list of standard features is short. All trims come with vinyl seats, rubber flooring, power windows and door locks, a digital compass, and front and rear air conditioning. There is a two-speaker AM/FM radio and MP3 player, and the system is OnStar, GMC Connected Services, and WiFi hotspot capable. An auto-dimming interior rearview mirror, a backup camera, and hill-start assist are the only driver assists. Additional optional and/or standard features higher up the lineup include a tilting steering wheel (optionally trimmed in leather), cruise control, cloth front seats, SiriusXM, remote keyless entry, remote engine start, a USB port, and Bluetooth audio streaming.

Infotainment

The Savana doesn't have an infotainment system. What you get is an AM/FM radio, an MP3 player, an auxiliary input jack, 4G Wi-Fi hotspot and OnStar GMC Connected Services capability, and only two speakers mounted in the front doors. If you want a USB port, two additional rear speakers, or SiriusXM, you have to pay extra for them.
