Unfortunately, the heavy-duty version of the Sierra pickup does not get crash tested by any official organization. The closest alternative is the 1500, which receives a score of Good from the IIHS in most categories. However, this heavy vehicle is designed to take some serious punishment and won't be brought down easily unless you regularly play chicken with semis. Don't.
NHTSA safety ratings are not available at this time.
Unfortunately, the majority of Sierra models come equipped with nothing more than the most basic safety features. These include traction and stability control, a rearview camera, a teen driver system, and six airbags: dual front, front side, and side curtain. You can opt for some driver-assist packages, but only the Denali comes standard with forward collision alert, automatic emergency braking, front and rear park assist, lane-keep assist, lane change alert, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and an HD surround-view camera.
