2023 Terrain Safety

The 2023 GMC Terrain's safety record is slightly above average. The NHTSA's safety review of the GMC Terrain returns full marks in all evaluations except for rollover tests, where it scores four stars. The IIHS has yet to subject the 2023 Terrain to crash tests, but the 2022 model received a good spread of top marks, just failing to impress in side crash tests.

2023 Terrain Key Safety Features

The GMC Terrain comes with a full airbag system, including frontal airbags, seat-mounted side airbags for the driver and front passenger, and head curtain airbags for the front and rear. Stability and traction control are standard, as are ABS braking and LED headlights.

Driver assistance features include cruise control, automatic emergency braking, forward collision alert, a following distance indicator, teen driver function, and lane keep assist with lane departure warning. Higher up in the trim line, features such as auto parking assist, adaptive cruise control, and HD surround vision become standard. A head-up display, lane change alert with side blind zone alert, rear cross-traffic alert, and park assist are optional extras, but do come standard on the Denali trim.

2023 Terrain Reliability

The 2023 GMC Terrain has had no recalls for the 2023 model year, but certain 2022 models were recalled for bad tires and a loose bolt in the driver's seat frame. J.D. Power rates the GMC Terrain at 86 out of 100 for quality and reliability.
