The 2023 GMC Terrain's safety record is slightly above average. The NHTSA's safety review of the GMC Terrain returns full marks in all evaluations except for rollover tests, where it scores four stars. 2023 Terrain Key Safety Features

The GMC Terrain comes with a full airbag system, including frontal airbags, seat-mounted side airbags for the driver and front passenger, and head curtain airbags for the front and rear. Stability and traction control are standard, as are ABS braking and LED headlights.

Driver assistance features include cruise control, automatic emergency braking, forward collision alert, a following distance indicator, teen driver function, and lane keep assist with lane departure warning. Higher up in the trim line, features such as auto parking assist, adaptive cruise control, and HD surround vision become standard. A head-up display, lane change alert with side blind zone alert, rear cross-traffic alert, and park assist are optional extras, but do come standard on the Denali trim.
