The leap from EX to EX-L is a small one, with only $1,200 separating the two trims. For the money, the main upgrade you’ll notice is the leather upholstery, giving the classy Civic’s cabin a greater feeling of sophistication. The front seats are also heated, while front occupants enjoy the dual-zone climate control from the standard EX. Elsewhere, an auto-dimming rearview mirror is added, as is a HomeLink remote system. While the changes aren’t numerous, they are enough to justify the price jump if you absolutely cannot have cloth upholstery, but otherwise, we’d forego the leather and save the money.
