Despite the Touring name, even the base version of 2021’s Honda Civic Type R is an angry hot hatch that is capable of rearranging your facial features under braking or when cornering. It’s first and foremost the most exciting FWD car on the market, and only once you look beneath the surface do you see that it cares about its behavior on public roads too. With a top speed of 169 mph, it can get you in trouble real quick, but fortunately, adaptive cruise control is standard, so set that to the speed limit and the Type R will happily put on an act of being a restrained daily driver. Standard features are plentiful too, with almost no options offered or asked for.
