When shopping for a Honda Clarity Plug-in, you are given the choice of two trim levels: the base Plug-in Hybrid, and the upper-tier Touring. Nothing separates the two under the hood, with each getting the same 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine paired with an electric motor that produces a combined 212 hp. Only front-wheel-drive is offered, and a CVT manages all the simulated gear shifts.
Right from the get-go, the Clarity PHEV rides on 18-inch aerodynamic alloy wheels and gets a full complement of LED exterior lights, including automatic headlights, taillights, and daytime running lights. The base model comes upholstered in cloth and is equipped with dual-zone climate control, keyless entry and ignition, and heated front seats. The infotainment comprises an eight-inch touchscreen programmed with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, while the eight-speaker sound system offers AM/FM/SiriusXM/HD Radio playback. Honda Sensing comes standard on every Clarity, including forward collision avoidance, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, and road departure mitigation.
The upper trim upgrades to leather upholstery and adds power-adjustable front seats, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, remote climate preconditioning, and navigation.
