2022 Palisade Interior

While the materials used may not be very upscale, there is no faulting the construction of the Palisade's cabin. It is extremely well put together and durable. That said, it's also very comfortable, and the tech leaves you wanting for little. Furthermore, the designers know exactly what their buyers want and have positioned everything for the utmost ease of access and comfort. Even in top-level spec, where there are features galore like a heated steering wheel and seats, and a dual-pane sunroof, the interior is never overly fussy. There is also more than enough space for everyone, regardless of which row they're in, and there is even enough standard cargo space behind the 3rd row for most daily needs.

Seating and Interior Space

In its base configuration, the Palisade SE has two sets of bench seats in the back and two buckets up front for a total seating capacity of eight. What is even more remarkable is that there genuinely is enough room in every row. Yes, the third row is a little tight for adults, but 31.4 inches of legroom is more than enough for the kids and teens. The second row offers a whopping 42.4 inches of legroom, leaving 44.1 inches for the front row. Headroom from front to back is 40.7, 40.1, and 37.8 inches, respectively. You can expect to lose an inch or so in each row when the sunroof is specced on. Hip room is incredible in all three rows, which means you can fit the maximum number of people in each row.

In the SEL upwards, the second-row is swapped out for captain's chairs, giving passengers a little more space to themselves and making it even easier to access the third row. The top trims do without the bench entirely. Overall, comfort is not something you'll ever feel the need to complain about, and once you start moving up the trim levels, you get access to heated front- and second-row seats. Getting in and out is mostly a breeze, thanks to the high step-in height, and accessing the third row isn't as troublesome as it is in many other 3-row SUVs thanks to the one-touch sliding mechanism in the second row.

Interior Colors and Materials

While the quality of the interior can't be faulted, the Hyundai Palisade doesn't present buyers with much in the way of choice. On the lower trim levels, only Black or Gray cloth is available. This surprisingly plush interior gets even better from the SEL, which adds a leather-wrapped steering wheel. The cloth seats can be upgraded to regular leather at this point if you are willing to pay a little extra, and a Navy/Beige color scheme is unlocked, paired to certain exterior colors. The dashboard is coated in simulated leather and the other high-traffic areas make ample use of soft-touch materials.

The Limited starts moving into genuine premium territory as it comes with simulated leather on the dashboard and armrests. As for the seats, those are finished in Nappa leather, once again in Black or Navy Beige. The Limited also comes with a premium soft-touch center console. Things get a little fancier on the top-tier Calligraphy with quilted leather door panels, a perforated leather steering wheel, and a microfiber headliner. Black is the main interior color on offer unless you opt for certain exterior hues which allow you to specify a Navy/Beige interior.

2022 Palisade Trunk and Cargo Space

Three-row SUVs generally suffer from subpar cargo capacity when all seats are upright, since they need to squeeze in more people. We say generally because the Palisade bucks this trend. Sure, you can't fit seven people's worth of luggage behind the third row, but 18 cubic feet is still impressive and you won't have to lower the rear-most seats simply to run everyday errands. When you do, that 18 cubes grows to a whopping 45.8 cubic feet, which is a lot more than most other five-seater vehicles. If you need to move particularly large items or want to turn the back of the SUV into a makeshift camping spot, a total area of 86.4 cubic feet can be unlocked by lowering all the seats. All this is made easier by electric releases on the seats and even power-folding functionality on the upper trims.

There is an underfloor storage compartment, but other smart solutions around the cabin include four spacious door pockets, an armrest cubby in the front and another in the back (if you get the captain's chairs), and 16 cupholders in total. There are several spacious bins around the console and driver controls, too.

2022 Palisade Infotainment and Features

Features

Modern family cars are getting more and more features as standard, with a very specific focus on safety. To this end, the base SE is equipped with forward collision avoidance, pedestrian detection, a rearview camera, rear parking sensors, lane-keep assist, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, a safe exit system, and driver attention warning. More convenience and comfort features include a six-way manual driver's seat, air conditioning, remote entry, cruise control, and a sliding second row. The SEL upgrades the standard offering with a sunroof, push-button start, an eight-way power driver's seat, heated front seats, automatic dual-zone climate control, and LED interior lights. The Limited and Calligraphy add heated and ventilated front and rear seats, a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster, front parking sensors, a blind-spot view monitor, a surround-view monitor, a head-up display, and highway driving assist.

Infotainment

Keeping everyone happy over long drives is a primary concern for any family-oriented SUV, so it comes as no surprise that the standard infotainment suite is already quite good. The eight-inch touchscreen on the SE and SEL is programmed with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, HD Radio, and a standard six-speaker sound system. The upper trim levels get a larger 10.25-inch touchscreen but have to use cables to connect smartphones to Apple CarPlay or Android Auto. SiriusXM, navigation, an in-car intercom, and wireless charging are added to the setup. The sound system is also upgraded to a premium 12-speaker Harman Kardon package from the Limited trim. Conveniently, there are three USB outlets in the first row and two in the second row. The third row has two USB charging outlets, but only on the top two trims.
